“Overall Thoughts: Carnicerias Guanajuato is a nice Mexican grocery store in the Wicker area with a little restaurant tucked in the back. It carries a solid range of Mexican staples, brands, snacks, and ingredients, and the staff are really kind and friendly. The restaurant is counter-serve with a well-sized seating area, and had a wide variety of meat options, from ox tongue tacos to beef jerky tortas to chorizo burritos. (However, the vegetarian options were a bit lacking in creativity / depth). By the time I went at ~6:30pm though, they were out of both ox tongue and beef jerky, so I’ll have to go earlier next time to try those. The prices are reasonable and affordable in both the restaurant and store, and you can use either cash or card.Food I tried:- Lomo Encebollado Torta (4/5): The torta bread was a little stale / not super fresh, but the meat was good and flavorful. Especially for the price (<$8), it was a very solid meal.—Price (relative to peers): 4.6/5Ambience: 4.4/5Service: 4.8/5Overall Value: 4.4/5”

“I really love Pete's selection. They have everything I want/need. Always are fully stocked. And it's always super clean. The major issue here is how long the checkout lines get. Parking also isn't easy...but thats a trend across multiple grocery stores, so no points taken off there. This location is massive. Their produce section has so much fresh produce, and is organized great. If they can get their checkout together, this would be my go to grocery store every week, but because it's such a mission I usually go elsewhere.”

“I've heard a lot of great things about the tacos and I decided to stop by today since I was in the area. The tacos were good. Above average but not the best I've had. The meat is well seasoned, and the portions of meat are VERY generous. They offer green and red salsa. The place is very much you get what you get. Customer service was minimal. Just place order, and get your food. You cannot order more tacos at the counter. You have to go pay. I wouldn't drive out specifically for these tacos. I ordered asada and language tacos and tried both sauces. I like that they serve the tacos with slices of lime.”
