Pet Stores & Supplies

A B Hatchery & Garden Center
916 E Grove St, BloomingtonLocal nursery with friendly staff. Check out their dedicated houseplant room, dog treats, and bird feeders. If the weather is nice take a walk thru the greenhouse for a variety of annuals and perennials. They even have a section focused on Midwest native plants! Slightly more pricey than the big box stores, but worth the extra $ for quality and supporting local businesses.

PetSmart
1606 E Empire St, BloomingtonI'd really like to give a shout out to Kaitlyn, at the Empire st location! I had ordered the wrong flavor of food for my new fur baby, once I got home, I realized it and came back to return it but had to sit in the car for 30mins due to my glucose fluctuating at a low number. If I get up and walk around, my number will drop even lower. After 40mins of waiting, I decided to call and see if by chance someone would be able to switch out the food. Kaitlyn was so awesome! She looked for the correct food for me and found it! She even came out to get my receipt, the old bag of dog food and bring me the new one. I can't thank her enough! When I pulled in my driveway, of course, my juice started to kick in, and my number started to go up. It was something very small but it was incredibly huge to me. Thank you again Kaitlyn!! ?

Pet Care

Hawthorne Park Animal Care Center
4007 Pamela Dr, BloomingtonDr. Kilby is the best veterinarian in town, hands down. Don’t believe me, go and check her out. She is knowledgeable like most, but she is also thorough, kind, caring. Not only is she all that towards your pet, she also treats dog parents with grace, understanding and so much love. This office has also some of the most efficient while at the same time caring people. It is an absolute pleasure to go there and know that your pet is in good hands. Here is my lovely lady Abby. Have been going through a rough patch, but she is in the best hands!

Eastland Companion Animal Hospital
1704 E Empire St, BloomingtonThe vets here have been lovely, my kitten had a lot of ear problems right when I adopted him, and they saw a lot of him in the first couple of weeks, and were very kind, helpful and informative. Everyone at the front desk is also always so sweet, I highly recommend this clinic. I can mostly only recommend Dr. Bundy, but I've heard great things about all the other vets here as well.

Pet Sitting & Training

Pawsitive Transformations, LLC
705 Watford Dr, BloomingtonWorking with Bob to help our dog recover from home-alone anxiety was an experience we're so grateful to have had. He guided us through the small, progressive steps to help our dog begin to think our leaving the house was 'no big deal' instead of an event that caused Keaton anxiety. No more barking, no more drooling, no more anxiety. The peace of mind that comes from knowing we can leave the house while Keaton relaxes on the bed or sofa makes our hearts sing! Thank you Bob for your care, compassion, empathy and talent!

Lil Beaver Brewery
5 Finance Dr, BloomingtonCulinary Chronicles of Central Illinois: An Adventure at Lil Beaver Brewery
Some adventures don’t require a passport — just a short drive across Bloomington. Our latest stop took us to Lil Beaver Brewery, a bold and creative hub of local beer innovation that has been delighting Central Illinois since 2016.
We were greeted by General Manager Brandon Ciasnocha, who shared stories of the brewery’s evolution and local impact. Owners Adam and Justin Bellas have taken their “small but mighty” brewery from a homegrown dream to a Bloomington favorite that’s crafted over 200 beers throughout the years. Their flagship hit — the ever-popular Wainbows — continues to fly off the taps.
Step inside and you’ll quickly sense the energy: the beer garden extends the space beautifully, offering room for friends, families, and laughter under the open sky. Sustainability also plays a proud role here — Lil Beaver partners with local farmers, sending their spent grains to feed cattle and close the local loop in true community fashion.
Tasting the Adventure
Our tasting flight read like a tour through the brewery’s creative DNA.
Wyezick – a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with balanced citrus notes.
Wainbow – their iconic fruited IPA that bursts with tropical character.
CHRA Space Crystals – a hazy IPA that’s smooth, juicy, and cosmic in both flavor and name.
Dipped and Deride – a dessert-inspired stout that turns indulgence into art.
Peach Crumble – like summer in a glass, softly sweet and fruit-forward.
Jitters – coffee lovers rejoice; a bold brew that marries rich roast with silky texture.
PDC Lager – clean, crisp, and perfect for a classic beer moment.
Amber Ale – toasted malt warmth for those who love tradition done right.
Brewers Collin Shaffer and Tyler bring creative fire to every keg they craft, while bartenders TJ and AJ make each pour a friendly experience that keeps regulars coming back.
Bites to Match the Brews
Don’t miss the Wisconsin white cheese curds — simply outstanding when paired with a pint of amber. The homemade pretzels dipped in beer cheese are another highlight — warm, flavorful, and flat-out addictive.
For mains, we couldn’t resist the Birria Nachos, piled high and full of rich flavor, and the Beaver Wrap, a crowd favorite featuring tender chicken and house-made flair.
Every corner of this brewery hums with creativity, community, and care — proof that great beer tastes even better when rooted in local pride.

Keg Grove Brewing Company
712 E Empire St Suite 2, BloomingtonThey had a large and diverse selection of beers, from lagers to stouts and everything in-between. Some breweries get into a rut or theme and only really specialize in one or two types. Glad their selection is so varied.
They have a nice patio area and nice indoor seating area as well, although it is on the cozy/small side.
Part of their seating area is up a flight of stairs, and when 2 people are trying to navigate going both up and down at the same time woth beer/glass, it can get tricky.
Parking is a little cramped based on the limitations of the location.

Outback Steakhouse
1637 E Empire St, BloomingtonEvery item that we loved but were removed from the menu are back! I was able to get my boneless New York strip and a wedge salad. My husband and son-in-law got the boneless Del Monico rib eye. My daughter had her Alice Springs chicken--which had been removed many years ago but has been back for 3 or 4 years. The filet medallions are even back! All of our selections were cooked perfectly to order. If you're at Outback and like a good margarita then you have to try the Blood Orange Rita. Still one of the best I've had.
