The rattling noise coming from my 2009 Toyota was a hanging heat sheild. After putting my car up on the lift, it was able to be put back in place with just a couple of washers. No upsell, no 150 pt inspection, no shop fee, no nothing. Just a couple of washers and an extremely satisfied customer. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs work done on their car.”

“Daniel is a dedicated mechanic, he will give good advice and will repair quickly, relatively cheaply compared to other workshops. He has already repaired 2 of my cars and I am satisfied. I recommend Daniel to everyone, he is always nice and smiling, you can trust him with your cars. He does not charge for replacing parts that are good, as other workshops do. I paid about $450 for replacing 2 tires and shock absorbers, and another workshop told me $1,200 because they proposed replacing several other parts.”
“I went to their open house 10/18/25, and everyone treated me like they already knew me. All of the employees are passionate about their work, and they even mounted my tires, welded my exhaust, and shined my tires for free. If you have a saab or a volvo, take it here. You will get a quality job and probably make some friends.”

“Jason from Crystal Lake transmission is very professional and responsive to my questions and phone calls regarding my notorious 65RFE transmission. I brought the truck in. He was able to diagnose it very quickly and the turnaround time was great. It’s very unfortunate that I needed to get the transmission rebuilt, but that being said I could not recommend Jason and Crystal Lake transmissions enough he did a great job and I’ll be coming back with all my vehicles to him Jason thank you!!”

“5 stars for Dino! Riding on my motorcycle on I90 and a washer snapped and my gear shifter fell off. Despite being a shop for cars, Dino came right out and donated me a new washer and torqued the remaining screw to high heavens so I could get it to a bike shop safely. He was the friendly face I needed after that and clearly cares about his customers and community. 10/10 would break down near here again (or return for regular car service!)”

“I had a great experience at Car-X Auto Service. I went in for a routine oil change, and the whole visit was smooth and professional. The staff were very friendly and easy to work with, and the waiting area was clean and comfortable.
While servicing the vehicle, they also did a full inspection and took the time to explain a few things that needed attention. I really appreciated that they clearly explained the issues and what the repair options would be, but there was absolutely no pressure to do anything on the spot.

“On July 5th my GMC Sierra 1500 Denali experienced a diesel engine fault. The Service Team immediately took the vehicle in for evaluation. They determined the cause and deemed the vehicle undriveable. Following the 4th of July weekend they set out to source the failed sensor/assembly. The item was not in stock and required over a month to receive and a few days to install. While I was inconvenienced without a vehicle for such a long time the service department provided a loaner and my GMC warranty covered the cost of a rental vehicle so that my family could still travel to the east coast for our scheduled two week vacation. Chris Scholer provided excellent CUSTOMER SERVICE. Thank you!”
