“This is one of my favorite places to visit- prices are fair, their inventory is surprisingly extensive considering the size of the shop, and the staff is friendly & super helpful! They're truly good neighbors and time seems to slow down while you chit chat about projects you all are doing. Great neighborhood place that I hope stays forever and ever and ever!”

“Great staff, amazing costumer service. I have been going there shopping for windows for my business and Demetra Johnson helped me out gave me best price and got them quick!!”
“We Love this store! Small hardware IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, with most things you may want around the house or apartment. Friendly and helpful staff. Plant stuff, electrical, plumbing, even bought a hat and gloves last fall!We try then first before resorting to the big box alternatives.Abd when you are done, you can stop at Lickity Split for an ice cream!!”
“Very happy with recent service from AG. He replaced a plexiglass storm window panel with bent aluminum frame, and the hardware on a sliding storm window panel from a porch door. Relatively small jobs, but he took care to complete the repairs right and at a low price. Communication throughout the process was also great. Highly recommended.”
“The best, most knowledgeable staff work at this local hardware store that punches way above its size. They remember me whenever I come in and are always willing to suggest the most affordable way to get a project done. Their selection is excellent, particularly the Benjamin Moore paint and other seasonal supplies. I cannot recommend them more highly!”
“Juan at ACE on Maple is a fabulous client service professional at our local hardware store. He and the team outperform the big box stores in product knowledge, service and personality
Today he helped me order the paint to match our existing doors and new paint for our walls. His produced knowledge is unparalleled and his smile is enticing
To finish the job, he wheeled the paint to our car
We keep coming back
Tom”
“I want to particularly thank Israel of the key department (and more) who spent thoughtful, focused, time with me on 10/25/25.....good, old-fashioned, customer service.

“Been going to John & Michael for years. They helped me when I was struggling. Made me feel as if I’m part of O’Leary’s. A goto for anything in construction. I started with a bike & a paint brush 30yrs ago. Mike & John been with me all along the way. Now fixing and building bridges. Kind, professional and inexpensive for any construction needs.”
“Nice hidden gem. I never knew this place was here. The team greeted me at the door. All smiles. Had a pretty good selection of things and it saved me a long trip to the nearest homedepot. Im glad they were there. Thanks guys”
“Awesome, friendly, helpful service! The prices of merchandise is reasonable and it's easy to find what you're looking for here. The store is clean and organized.”
“Love this place. For the most part everyone is helpful and most are friendly lol. I hear a lot of people nicknamed the store; CRAPPY BEAVER! But I don't think it's CRAPPY at ALL!”
“Finally a real hardware store.
Needed a tap to fix threads on a bathroom fixture are he was able to give me the proper size, along with a single 2.5mm hex wrench.
Nowhere else could help me.”

“You may find better prices, where? I don't know. One thing you won't find is better service. Once you get someone to assist you, they will put all their heads together and help figure it out. Nothing but good things to say. If I need something specific, I skip Home Depot and come here.”
“Andersonville Hardware is convenient and close. I’ve gone in to find a small part from time to time and they have always been very nice and helpful.A couple years ago, they re-screened a window screen for me. My only complaint is that the screen was not done very tight so it flaps a bit in the breeze, but otherwise has held up fine.”
“I ran into Ace looking for a drain snake and Draino because my tub has been clogged for a few weeks. I was instantly greeted and helped by this guy with long red hair. He asked me what I was looking for and when I told him my situation with the tub, he offered me a different and more effective solution.
I have long hair too so hair clogs up the tub easily when it passes the stopper. He highly recommended this stuff called “Insta-Flo”. He taught me how to use it and told me he understood the long hair issues since his household and himself all had long hair.
When I got home and followed his instruction as well as the bottle instructions, it worked like magic! I haven’t had that excellent of customer service in a very long time. It was so refreshing honestly!
Thank you to that employee, water is running smoothly and life moves on. Give that guy a raise because employees like that are extremely rare these days. Top Tier!”
“Helpful, knowledgable, and genuine people. A good selection of typical things you'd look for in a neighborhood hardware store. The lumber selection is pretty good, too, and the cuts they do (for a fee) are substantially better than big box stores. If they don't have something, folks I've talked to are more than happy to refer you to another local store that might help. My go-to for all hardware and projects.”
“While moving our child into a new apartment in Chicago, we had a need to buy a room air conditioner, and some other odds and ends to fill out apartment life after graduating from college. Everyone I interacted with in the store was extremely helpful. It was like a hardware store from 10 or 20 years ago where everybody knew where everything was and helped you and was kind. They even have a parking lot that I could park my giant truck and they were amazing. Highly recommend.”
“One of the hardware stores in Chicagoland who have everything property management company needs. Windows and screens same day. They just are awesome. Support the small businesses of south shore community and who have been here for so many years”
“True Value has been here forever. It is clean and the staff is friendly. They pretty much have everything you need and they know what they are talking about. Don’t hesitate to ask a question if you don’t know what to buy.”
“I went nuts for Yu’s bolts!Screws actually, but I liked the wording better. Seriously, walked out of here for less than $5, and I know I would have spent twice as much getting a few masonry screws and washers at the box stores.”
“A great local hardware store that has helped me with various things! I've purchased Air conditioners here, Christmas decorations, power tools, a new toilet seat, and most recently I had several sets of keys made. Employees are always nice and chill who are ready to help you. It's a great asset to Lakeview.”
“VERY COURTEOUS! I LOVE THAT THEY HAVE PARTS & TOOLS, SERVICES THAT BIG STORES JUST WANT LOTS OF MONEY FOR. I LOVE THIS HARDWARE STORE CLOSES IN THE COMMUNITY & IS WELL NEEDED! ?”
“You guys have things that are 22 years old and u need parts this guy might have it stop on by. You got some cash he gots certain things u need from fertilizer, to old video adapters, to hard to find keys from ilco.”
“Best place to come , Deb bob and Tim are very knowledgeable, been dealing with them for years, if I could leave more stars I would , -James JB’s sewer and plumbing services”
“This hardware store is a neighborhood jewel! It is run by people who know how to make repairs. They are happy to answer questions, give sound advice and often times will fix things for you without asking for compensation for their considerable skills. Every neighborhood would be enriched by such a place. It is an anchor of the community.”
“Even though they couldn't provide me with the item i wanted, young gentelemt at the front desk was very helpful and concerned about the door o was looking for.”
“I happened upon this place by chance. I was walking down the street towards meeting up with some friends and saw this store. I needed to make a trip to Home Depot later in the day so I figured I would see what this place had. I needed some totally random and uncommon plumbing parts and they (to my total shock) had everything I needed. Excellent service, selection, and price.”
“I stopped by to get some key copies and was impressed by the speed and hospitality. Owners were kind enough to throw in key caps! Will definitely return for any small hardware needs!”
“I've lived in Roger's Park since 60's and this is the first time I've ever been here. I was overwhelmed. Forgot to take pics inside.Needed keys made. 2 keys, a springy hoop key ring for under $7.00! Boom, Done!Compared to the key Kiosk at the Jewels, $13.50 plus 3 to 5 days shipping, no thanks.Support your local merchants.”
“Thanks Tad for always giving the best advice and guidance as I prepare for projects with my clients. Appreciate the extra product knowledge with a good attitude. Makes the day. Always shop here.”
