Huge selection, although it doesn't change often. Not many options of books in other languages. I've visited this bookstore several times and have felt welcomed. However, during my last visit I noticed that the owner was regularly checking up on me, which made me feel uncomfortable. The books have gotten too expensive. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Great used bookstore, cool staff, easy donation. Re the "pricing" complaint, I didn't look before I went, nice guy found it very quickly, said "I'll look up the price..." I checked inside the cover and blurted "it says $10 here" and he said "that's not ours", looked it up and it was $4.75. #leftadonation

This book store does not have prices on the books. They "price" the books once you bring them to the register when they look them up online. I've been to hundreds of bookstores and have never been in one that did not individually price their books or indicate a pricing method (like the books by the pound place that was in Evanston). Prices should be figured before a book is placed for sale. It does not matter that this is a non-profit and run by volunteers. Resale and thrift stores price their merchandise, so why does Heirloom books not do this basic business task. Who's to say that they decide to price something more just because they don't like something you say? Or how a customer looks? Again I shop used book stores across the country and have never seen anything like this.

I suggest you ignore the review from “pete” — that review is unjust and seems prejudiced. this is a great non profit book store where all proceeds go to local donation. impressive selection of books, common sense and fair pricing!! great vibe inside and friendly staff.

In order for a used bookstore to thrive, there are two simple things that must be present…..cheap prices, and constant new inventory. This place has neither. In the several years I have reluctantly been stopping into this place I have yet to see a new book on The shelves. The owner does not believe in acquiring new stock. The prices are three times what they should be and the whole process is a monumental waste of time. Every time I enter the place I ask myself yet again ‘why am I here? Why did I bother?’ I know I will leave frustrated and angry at wasting my time yet again while the irritating owner futzes around on the internet only to offer you a price you have no interest in paying. Spread the word: Avoid this place and go to armadillos pillow instead! Their entire business model is a fiasco and yet the owner will go on about how they are in dire straits and about close. Time to get a clue.

Great space with kind people who will help you find what you're looking for. I recently found two obscure religious texts that have already contributed greatly to my practice in temple.

With its impressive selection, well-organized layout, and outstanding customer service, this place truly shines. But what really makes it special is the inviting atmosphere it offers. While the pictures that you see in this listing give you a glimpse, you need to experience the ambiance firsthand to know what I mean. You'll find a variety of cozy seating areas throughout, perfect for enjoying a good read or leisurely browsing through books you're interested in. The knowledgeable and helpful staff adds to the charm, always ready to assist. And when it comes to prices, they go the extra mile, checking online to ensure you get the best deals available. I highly recommend visiting this place for a truly enjoyable book-hunting experience.

A charming and cozy bookstore with a large inventory over two floors. We were greeted upon entering and given a helpful tour of genre locations. The only reason for 4 stars is the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. We did not stay long or buy books due to the smoke smell.

Great resource, neighborhood spot. I’ve found college Econ textbooks, high school required reading…. Staff is friendly and helpful. The creation story is heartwarming and makes me want to continue going out of my way to patronize it.

The owner is super helpful and friendly! He was very kind to us and our dog! He got my boyfriend set up in the book section he was looking for, and then offered the dog all kinds of treats and toys. The store itself is like something out of a storybook - shelves and shelves of books to get lost in, lots of ambient lighting, and plenty of cozy spaces to sit and read! And the books are very reasonably priced! It's an incredibly warm and welcoming place to spend a winter's day!

A very cute and cozy bookstore with a very nice owner. He instantly greeted us when we entered the store and made sure to point us to the section we were looking for. Wonderful and very kind owner that went out of his way to make sure we found what we were looking for.

Prices are determined by the guy looking up the titles online and then *maybe* giving the books for a little less than the online price. You have to bring each item up to the counter where he scans the internet prior to quoting you a price. I found an old book that was completely yellowed with an aging, tattered spine that was actually coming apart in areas. It had clearly been on the shelf and exposed to the sun for some time. The price he quoted was ridiculous. It would have had a good home, but I put it back. I like to support used bookstores, especially those with older collections, but the buying process here was just unreal.
