Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance. Reserved a specific car (Tesla model Y) I arrive on time and they tell me they have no vehicle beside a van. Horrible service.

Came in to rent a car and Alex was super helpful. They did not have the car that I requested and gave me a Toyota with 55K miles on it but I really liked the way Alex handled my reservation! He was helpful and so nice!

Do not book here. Arrived this morning and was told there are no vehicles. In 2024, I can't imagine any excuse where you are unable to be able to maintain up to date information about the inventory of your vehicles. We wasted our time taking a taxi here . Will never book with Hertz again

The system shouldn't allow a reservation to be confirmed if you're not going to have a car available. I walked 2 miles for a car and then still had to uber to work.Update--Despite not having a car to fulfill the reservation and also calling to tell me they didn't have a car available after I showed up in person, still made sure to charge me a cancellation fee of $72 as if I was the problem. Chase took care of that.Fully recommend Avis further up on North Broadway.

UPDATE: After scrolling through reviews, it seems this location notoriously rents out Teslas that aren't charged (sometimes as low as 20% battery), but still makes customers pay to recharge vehicles they clearly aren't charging. I urge anyone who has been billed this undue fee to reach out to customer care. After much back and forth, they at least refunded the $35 EV Battery Recharge fee.I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience with Hertz Lincoln Park that compels me to leave this review. I reserved a Tesla Model 3 a day in advance at this location. I chose this Hertz because there was an advertised free pick-up service and the Tesla was cheaper than a standard vehicle.Unexpectedly, I was hit with a LDW charge despite having my own insurance coverage and credit card rental protection, which I did not consent to. I also had to pay a charge fee which is ridiculous considering the car was delivered to me at only 67% battery.To exacerbate matters, the promised free drop-off service was nonexistent (I had to call them to find out), so I arrived about 25 minutes late after arranging my own transportation. I then had to wait an additional 20 minutes for a vehicle that was not only unwashed but also not at a full charge. The delay in receiving the vehicle ultimately caused me to miss a crucial medical appointment, which was what I rented the car for.Moreover, the Tesla I received was far from the expected condition - covered in bird droppings, lacking wiper fluid, and had brakes so loud and squeaky that it required excessive force to brake properly. Overall the vehicle was in unacceptable rental condition. A Tesla should never have worn out brakes because it is designed for one-pedal driving, but a rental vehicle should have safe brakes period.This unfortunate experience is not an isolated incident, as I've faced previous issues with Hertz across different locations over the past year. From vehicles being double booked to unprepared vehicles that cause delays, Hertz has consistently failed to meet expectations.As a chronically ill individual relying on rental cars not just for leisure, but for medical appointments, I cannot overlook the repeated letdowns. All the employees I spoke with at the location were friendly, but they don't have a handle on the logistics necessary to run an effective Hertz location.I had to reschedule my doctor’s appointment and book another vehicle the following week. I had a seamless process at Enterprise renting a Toyota Corolla at the same price. I recommend anyone reading this to just go the Uptown Enterprise instead. It’s a more accessible location, the car was clean and ready, and I paid what I expected to pay.

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer care exhibited by Hertz Rental Company, and I feel utterly wronged by their actions. From start to finish, my experience with Hertz has been nothing short of a nightmare.Firstly, customer service representatives have consistently displayed a complete disregard for my concerns and inquiries. Whenever I have reached out for assistance or clarification, I am met with apathy and a dismissive attitude. It is as if they simply do not care about resolving any issues that may arise during the rental process. This lack of attentiveness and empathy is not what one would expect from a reputable company.Furthermore, Hertz has repeatedly failed to fulfill their promises and commitments. On numerous occasions, This level of unprofessionalism is inexcusable, causing significant inconvenience and disruption to my plans. It is unacceptable for a company to steal money from my family.Additionally, Hertz has shown a complete disregard for the condition of their rental cars. On multiple occasions, I have been provided with vehicles that had strong smell of cigarettes, I was given a vehicle that hasn’t been serviced causing flat tire that I’m now liable to pay that makes no sense. This not only reflects a lack of care for their fleet but also poses a significant safety risk to customers. It is outrageous that Hertz would allow their cars to be in such a deplorable state, putting the well-being of their customers at stake.Overall, my experience with Hertz has been nothing short of a disheartening and frustrating ordeal. The lack of customer care, failure to fulfill reservations, and negligence in maintaining the vehicles have left me feeling completely wronged. I would strongly urge others to reconsider renting from Hertz, as their disregard for customer satisfaction is evident and unacceptable.

Very smooth experience renting a Tesla. Only downside is the cars aren't washed because the branch has no car wash available, as well as that the Teslas are locked in chill mode.

Note that there’s no drop box for returning the key after hours, but you can park the rental in the garage at night and return the key the next day. All else was smooth!

Do what you can to avoid this location. I rented a car for one day and returned it before the timeslot the following day. A couple days later I get emailed a receipt from Hertz saying I've been charged for keeping the car two extra days. I called Hertz customer service (as this location doesn't answer their phone. I tried to call 5x) and they said the front desk worker "forgot" to check my car back in. They're refunding my money, but imagine if I hadn't checked, I would've been out $200 for their mistake. Awful. If you live in the city, try the GetAround app. A little more expensive, but worth it to skip this headache.

I normally wouldn't write an angry review minutes after one of the most absurd customer service experiences I've ever had, but I've got a few minutes before I head to Enterprise who is saving me after Hertz's colossal screw up. I got a call from this Hertz location about 40 minutes before my scheduled rental, telling me simply that there were no cars. It's like she watched that one Seinfeld episode last night and decided to recreate it by giving us a reservation but just shrugging her shoulders and saying nope, no car for you.There was no offer of help. Just nonchalantly telling us we could call other locations to look for a car.Save yourself the hasel. Rent elsewhere.

I have had two separate instances where they did not check my car back into the system after returning it. The company charged me for the extra days until the next person turned it in. When I tried to call after 24 hours of not receiving my receipt after dropping it off, none of my phone calls got through to this location and the calls would be ended on their side before an actual person answered the phone. The staff are friendly and deal with a lot of volume, but their process is sloppy. Had to call customer service hotline to get the call desk to email this location to close my booking. Utterly ridiculous.

We rent a car several times here. Every time there is an issue either charged wrong or a different car than we requested in advance.This time, we wasted 3 hours due to their mistakes. We paid for the Tesla Y model. They didn't have this car that we paid for and asked us to pick it up at the O'Hare location. We drove 40mins to O'hare location, they didn't have the car for us. Never had this low customer service and sales.
