I'm so grateful to Yazmin and H&R Block for helping me out with my taxes this year. I've historically done my own taxes, so of course I procrastinate, but this year I ran into an issue I couldn't figure out, and I panicked.
H&R Block made it super easy to book a same-day appointment and upload my documents, and then Yazmin was great about walking me through every step of the process efficiently and thoroughly. Now I've met the deadline, and I have so much peace of mind about the taxes I filed!

Me and my wife just moved to South Carolina in Greenville we were expecting to get our taxes done at the Laurens Road location upon arrival I asked the representative if there was anyone familiar with New York state taxes as well as South Carolina taxes because I was in need of someone who could fill out dual taxes. A gentleman came out from the back of the office stating that he would be able to assist with dual taxes. I asked him if he was familiar with New York state tax forms. He replied that he was, I then inquired about the pricing for preparation of dual state. The gentleman told me to take a picture of a QR code which gave me pricing and then proceeded to try to assist me with the math for the pricing. He stated some pricing based off of the information I was looking at but I noticed his math was incorrect. When I brought this up he said it's okay let's just sit down so he can take a better look at the math of the pricing. In the end he was not able to truly figure out the pricing based on the information given I had to add things up for him. On top of that me and my wife sat there for an hour and a half while he looked back and forth between the same boxes and the same questions truly as if he did not know what he was doing. Towards the end of the consultation he started asking me to ask questions that had to do with State codes. He also asked that I provide him with a New York state ID. I replied to him I'm not sure that's relevant due to the fact that I have a South Carolina driver's license now and it's illegal to carry two different state licenses on you. So I doubt your forms are asking me for a New York state driver's license specifically. I replied to him I have a South Carolina driver's license. He then stated that he was unable to complete my taxes because it was asking for this information and I did not have it. In all the time I have done taxes with H&R Block I've never run into this issue. I then questioned the guy again about his knowledge about dual taxes. He started to list off southern states that were not New York. I then asked him why he wasn't honest when I asked if he was familiar with New York state taxes. He answered that he figured it wasn't any different from the other ones he was doing. Me and my wife then left with our taxes incomplete having to go to a different location I would not recommend going to the Laurens Road location they simply don't have the correct knowledge to do complex taxes.
As if this experience was not bad enough a friend of mine went to the same H&R Block and got a female tax representative who was unable to make heads or tails of his stock Investments at the end of his consultation she stated that the reason why she was unable to complete his taxes was cuz the tax laws had changed and she was unfamiliar with new tax laws regarding stock Investments and 401k. Again avoid Lawrence Road if you have complex taxes. H&R Block offers a piece of Mind package that cost extra on top of what you're already giving them to do your taxes. I'm not totally against the idea but it seems to me that they hire people that are not fully proficient in taxes and then expects the customer to fit the bill when the tax professional messes up and lacks the knowledge to do their job I certainly think this needs to change. For this type of business model gives incentive for not having the proper knowledge to do your job

Went over there with my taxes had a report some money I earned for my settlement they wanted a 1099 which was not needed I had all the paperwork for them and my lawyer said they should have been able to do it why they're saying that they can't do it I got to another one and they do it just fine thanks for wasting my time

Taxes suck but Rosa S. at the Lawerence HR Block has made the experience 10/10 two years in a row. This is my second year returning for Rosa’s help and her warm smile and inviting personality has made what could be a stressful situation easy peasy. I’m glad taxes are only once a year, but Rosa makes it all better.

I have been trying to contact the tax preparer I worked with at this location to get an update on my refund for nearly a week. No one at this location is able to respond or guarantee assistance, and now their office is closed “for the season?” They are costing me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
