About One Tail at a Time - Adoption Center
One Tail at a Time (OTAT) is a dedicated animal rescue organization in the Chicagoland area that works to reduce euthanasia rates and help communities in need. The rescue primarily focuses on saving dogs and young kittens from overburdened shelters, caring for them in foster homes, and ultimately finding them loving, permanent homes. Many adopters highlight how smooth and easy the adoption process is, praising the friendly and communicative staff, especially the adoption coordinator. Adopters appreciate the transparency and support provided throughout, including medical records and resources to ensure successful integration into new homes. OTAT is known for its inclusive approach, working with people of all backgrounds and offering community outreach such as spay and neuter clinics to help families facing financial struggles keep their pets. Foster families also commend the organization for its thorough support, providing supplies and guidance to ensure foster dogs and cats are comfortable and ready for adoption. The organization’s positive energy and kindness create a welcoming environment, making the experience of adopting a pet joyful and memorable. Many adopters describe their new pets as wonderful additions to their families, often expressing gratitude for the meaningful connections they made through OTAT. While some note that adoption fees are a bit higher, they believe the cost is justified by the quality of care, up-to-date medical treatments, and microchipping provided. Overall, OTAT is highly valued for its compassionate work, community involvement, and the positive impact it has on animals and families alike.

I LOVE THIS RESCUE SO MUCH! I adopted two cats 3 years ago, and just adopted a dog a couple days ago. The process is SO easy and Jenn (adoption coordinator) is so communicative! I can tell they genuinely care about their animals. I love my babies- Rhonda, Sharon and Lena! (now named Norman, Lana, and Lumi!) Thanks again!

I adopted my dog, Luca, from OTAT at the PetSmart adoption event. His foster was there and answered all of my questions, and the adoption process was easy. They provided all of his medical records and offered support along the way.
