Cashier team was great, unfortunately the upstairs workers seemed too pompous to help. Asked one lady worker there to unlock the changing rooms for me. "Did you not see the help button there?" Such a callous remark. What I found odd was that other white folks who went up to ask her a question after me were met in such a pleasant manner. Oh well. I'll stick to online shopping with REI going forward.

Got my very first Brompton! Thanks to the very nice and friendly mechanic and secret salesman - Chris! I am able to look at the real bike instead of just pictures! A test ride is very helpful in making the decision. Chris also helps me install a Brook’s saddle to help me visualized which color I should get. Very satisfy with my visit and happy with my purchased!

Love REI, but I really can’t stand a union-busting enterprise, particularly one that exploits its workers so blatantly. The store is regularly understaffed, but the employees who work there are some of the kindest, hardest-working, and most genuinely helpful human beings you could wish to encounter. I hope that one day soon REI finds the common sense to pay these workers what they deserve and to meet them in good faith at the bargaining table.

I want to give a shout-out to the Lincoln Park Ski tuning team especially Chris Z, Jay, Jim, Alan. I dropped off 2 snowboards and a pair of skis ahead of a big ski trip I had planned. there was somewhat of a bad issue with one of the snowboards, and Chris and the whole team provided exceptional customer service. not only were they were able to resolve my problem, but they did a great job communicating with me and keeping me updated during the process. I never had to worry about getting it resolved before I had to leave for my trip, they made sure of it at every step. I am a professionally certified ski instructor and in American Mountain Guide Association ski guide school, so my equipment is very important to me. After the great service I received, I would completely trust the REI team with my equipment in the future. It’s hard to find ski experts in the chicago area, but the REI team are definitely experts. if you just need a simple ski/snowboard tune up, or you’re an expert who needs a high level of service, they are a great resource. thanks guys

This REI is trying to union bust and has decided to withhold all merit based pay increases for their staff. Their staff are some of the nicest and knowledgeable retail workers I have encountered and I am so angry with how they are being treated. I am so proud of the staff for calling for a strike and I hope this gets them the attention and support they deserve. REI needs to be better and until they are I will not adjust my review or return to this store.

Went to get my downhill skis waxed. The initial worker a young female said sorry the edges had sporadic rust stains on them, which happens every year and I cannot run the skis through the machine. Jimmy comes over looks at the skis and said it's no problem it just rubs off Took him about an additional five minutes to wipe the loose rust spots off.Jimmy is great just ask for him!

Bought climbing shoes online for my daughter’s Christmas present. Wrapped up the box and when she opened it we were all very surprised that the shoes that were sent were VERY obviously used. They were also too big, so we returned them. Because they were obviously used, the employee handling the return was less than gracious. Overall a pretty bad experience.
