Ordered a Peking duck dinner for $70. The duck we were served was roasted with soft wet skin. When I asked the server about it she said that this was how the restaurant cooks it. If you are looking for a real crispy Peking duck look elsewhere.

Most unpleasant experience I've had at a restaurant in my life so far. We called the restaurant to see if they could sit a party of 20, which they said they could. When we arrived they informed us that we had to leave in an hour and a half because they had another party scheduled. Their attitude was very unwelcoming and rude. We had menus thrown on the table and snatched. They refused us the dessert menu because they told us we wouldn't finish eating dessert before the other party came in even though we still had half an hour left. If it wasn't because we had already paid for parking and driven an hour to get to the place we would have left. The food was not worth the experience.

AMAZING DUCK DINNER. Comes with literally anything you'd want- soup, fried rice, bund, and accompaniments to make a perfect little sandwich! This is my go-to spot for duck now

One of the Best Meals of My Life + Incredible Service, Thoughtfulness, and TalentI went to Sun Wah for a luncheon with the Illinois Mycological Association and I was blown away by how delicious the 10-course vegetarian mushroom-themed meal was!! I’ve eaten a lot of Chinese food in my life (my last name is Li if you know what I mean), and this meal would be one of few that will be remembered for the rest of my life. My kids are extremely picky eaters and usually hate eating mushrooms, but they ate so much! Everything was so yummy but my personal top 3 favorites were the “Pan fried vegetarian tofu rolls - tarp paste wrapped with yuba”, “Overflowing golden nest - mushroom and mango stir fry with yellow tofu”, and the “beech mushroom medley".Someone at the luncheon asked if any dish doesn’t have oyster sauce. Upon learning this allergy, Kelly, the restaurant manager and host of the luncheon told her 3 out of the 10 dishes didn’t have oyster sauce. But 3 minutes later Kelly came back saying the chef decided to swap all the oyster sauce with soy sauce so she could enjoy everything!!! How thoughtful, kind, and talented is that!!! And even with this last minute change, everything still was superb!!! I hope the dishes we ate today will be on their permanent menu. One dish even had bamboo sponge, which is something I had never eaten in a Chinese restaurant in the U.S. before!!! What a treat everything was!!

We were in the neighborhood as dropped our daughter off at a concert so wanted to kill some time and after looking at the reviews we decided to try this place out. Upon entering the lady asked if we had a reservation and we said no but it wasn't that packed so we got a table. The place is nothing fancy, probably needs some updating! A lot of different waitresses take your order and seem hurried. My hubby had the seafood combination. The noodles were cold but after mixing it and adding soy sauce it was edible. I ordered the roasted pork and duck over rice and could not eat my food as it was too gamey for me and just the after taste still gives me nightmares. I really do not know how people eat these whole ducks if that is what it tastes like. The waitresses asked if we wanted to take our food to go, no thank you! My husband also went to use the bathroom and he said it was not clean. Definitely not coming back!

"If there was a 0-star option, I would give it to them. They charge prices that are different from the ones on the menu, with each item being $3 more expensive without prior notice. When asked about it, they simply say that it's the old menu."

The wanton noodle soup and BBQ combination are superb. The duck fried rice, which I forgot to photograph, is also excellent. Unlike many Chinese fried rice dishes, this one isn't overly rich or oily.

A group of friends went there, but it was my 1st time. It was quite a wonderful experience. I'd never had Peking duck. It melted in your mouth with such a delicious flavor. I enjoyed the bao and all the extras to go on them. I wish i had taken pictures. The egg rolls were a little salty for me.

We were in town for my cousin's baby shower and they took our whole group to Sun Wah. I've never had duck dinner and cannot believe I've been missing out on this amazing meal my whole life! My cousin made 7pm reservations on a Friday for our group of 7 adults and 5 kids. We were seated once our whole group arrived. The round tables are huge and the lazy Susan in the middle of the table was perfect for our family style dining. We immediately put in for 2 duck dinners upon being seated. We also got a few appetizers to start, my favorite being the stir fried eggplant! Every app came out quickly and we enjoyed it with their delicious house made chili sauce (caution: it burns your throat!). Then, we waited an hour for our Peking duck. We ended up having to walk up to the host stand to ask about the delay because no one came around to inform us of how epically busy they were. Our waters were bone dry at this point and all the kids had been granted screen time. Finally our duck came out and it was carved at the table. So juicy and flavorful and perfectly cooked. I'd like to say it was worth the wait, but it only happened a week ago, so I'm still a salty Sally about it. It really was worth the wait though. They make fried rice, soup and noodles out of the duck carcass. Those came out pretty fast after the duck carving. And then, we waited for our check. And then, we waited for them to run our cards (2). And then, they took our cash tip from the table. And then, they cleared the table. At this point, we knew promptness was not a word they respected, so we walked up to the host stand again. They said there was only 1 person who ran the credit cards...and she was very busy carving ducks. So, we asked for our cards, gave them cash and left feeling torn about how we felt about this place! It was amazing food, but the service fell far beyond sub par. 5 stars for food. 0 for service. Equals: 2.5 stars. Sorry, Sun Wah!
