“A Tale of Two Shops – just one example of how great Nofsinger’s has been over the years, as Dave is always quick to consult or scan my cars even when busy, and has always been more than reasonable.
Using technology many independent shops lack, Dave diagnosed my intermittent airbag light as a failing clock spring and then determined that Hyundai had a problem with the part so I might be able to get it repaired free at a dealership. No charge from Dave.
Sure enough, I found a technical service bulletin and an extension of the warranty to 15 years. This should be the end of the story, but you can always count on dealers to make Nofsinger’s look good. I booked a service appointment at a dealership in Villa Park (also reviewed) and insisted that they have the part in stock by the time I came so I wouldn’t have to go twice.
Short version: They didn’t have the part but didn’t tell me until I’d been there 2.5 hours waiting for an oil change I’d added and an open recall (underbody treatment) I’d agreed to only because I thought I was getting it all over with at once.
On top of that, the service writer told me the job would cost $700 when the part came in. Gee, I wonder where dealers get their bad reputations? After I pushed back, he scurried off to a manager and then returned to confirm there would be no charge, but there was never anything close to an apology.
I never went back. I got the part for $27 and installed it myself literally in 20 minutes. If I’d gone back to Nofsinger’s (where they’re always patient with my DIY endeavors), I guarantee it wouldn’t have cost $700. Or $200. They can do way more than you think, and if they can’t, they admit it.”

Sure, you could save $20 and buy cheaper somewhere else. But why risk getting cheap tires from unskilled technicians who don’t know how to properly balance a tire and then use an impact wrench to tighten your lug nuts causing your alloy rims to be distorted? Where’s your $20 savings now?
Seriously. I’ve had that happen. Don’t let it happen to you. Go to DuPage. Best tire shop around! Honest and knowledgeable experts.”

“I'm sorry that people have been reporting such unpleasant service. We experienced the opposite. Having not been in an accident in 40+ years of driving, my husband was really shaken at the scene and unaware of what was to take place from that point. The tow driver who towed our car was a bit gruff at the scene, but I'm sure that was due to several people shouting orders at him and urging him to hurry, as traffic was blocked. I was not with my husband at the time of the accident, so I called the office to inquire how we could get personal items from our car and have it released. The woman in the office was very pleasant and extremely helpful from start to finish. An hour later, I was on a 3-way call with her and our insurance agent, and the call was just as helpful. I am on a walker since surgery 2 weeks prior, and the first gentleman at Chariot hurried to help me and offered a chair. Missing an email from the insurance for release and promise of payment, the woman offered to speak with my insurance again, urging them to expedite the email so we wouldn't have to make a return trip. While cleaning the car, the person who towed it, came and apologized to my husband for being so gruff at the scene. Facing the process of having our only vehicle damaged beyond repair, purchasing another, and the costs we will be incurring now, every person we spoke with here was kind, helpful, even displaying empathy for my present handicap and our predicament. I appreciate the service we received in such an unpleasant and anxious time.”
