“I've stayed at this Hotel a few times, and it's good value for the money. The beautiful fountain sets a serene tone when you walk in. All staff at the check in have been pleasant and helpful. The standard King room is my usual pick, as it is spacious and has semi-separated lounging and bed spaces. If desired, robes must be requested. Loved having the perfectly-sized mini fridge for my water bottles and fruit. They use older style corded telephones in the rooms which is nostalgic for me. I could rate 5 if some smaller things improve, but overall I like this hotel and will return.”

“From the start to the very end, Doug and his crew ran a 1st Class, child and family-centric party. We were greeted at the car and Doug and his crew got out all of the party items and set everything up. Doug carefully explained how the party was going to go for my 7 y/o and 23 of his friends and relatives. Doug has an amazing way with children, keeping them having fun while staying disciplined. The Kayak carrying to the birthday cake and the sword cutting of the cake are special experiences my child is still talking about. Doug and his crew did everything, served all of the food, drinks, snacks, and cake. At the end, Doug and his crew took care of everything yet again and helped carry everything out for the day. Doug's dedication to serving others shows in every single thing he does with Hot Ground Gym. Knowing that he served our country in the Marines made the decision to choose Hot Ground Gym for my son's birthday party that much better. Thanks Doug!”

“This venue is gorgeous, and the service is incredible. Bergen was an amazing coordinator for us. Great communication throughout the planning process. She always got back to us with answers to questions. On the day of our wedding she helped to make sure everything was set up impeccably. When you book this venue you are required to have the decor/floral provided by Yanni Design Studios. Keith is the designer we worked with. Keith was awesome in helping the vision I had in mind become reality. Keith and Bergen were also great at giving us advice or tips. Weddings are also very expensive and the team we worked with were very respectful of our budget and were not pushy about upselling us. We had visited other venues where we dealt with this issue. I would recommend Canvas to everyone. Many of our guests said that our event was one of the most beautiful weddings they had been to.”

“This is one of my favorite places to walk. Everyone around the park are very friendly. People wave and say hi and are very helpful if they think you may be in trouble. I had and issue with my bike once and 20+ people stopped to see if they could help. It's free for Lake County residents and I think about $5 for non- residents. Since the pandemic they have not been collecting fees. It's been free for everyone for awhile. I am not sure if this will change soon or continue to be free.

Update 7/26/26 : This is still one of my favorite walking places. However I don't visit as much as I used to as some of the birds during their mating season have had it out for me. I have been attacked from above 8-9 times over the last couple years. I used to go 4-5 times a week and now only a couple times a month because it is a little annoying. I try and go now at the end of July through the fall because it is safer for the top of my head.”

“I attended an art show for the Chicago Pastel Painters Society at The Art Center. It was beautifully presented, with the art in various rooms, allowing the crowd to mingle and flow. The lighting was excellent for the paintings, and the staff was very accomodating. Overall an excellent venue for an art show!”

This is the second time I've returned to Chateau Ritz to celebrate my other daughter's 15th birthday, and I knew without a doubt that it's the best banquet hall and that my expectations for service and quality would be met. “We could not have found a more perfect venue for our wedding on July 12, 2025. From the moment we showed up for our tour and met with Monique, we knew Kenilworth was the place for us. The venue is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained, yet the pricing and contract requirements are completely reasonable and fair. We felt comfortable and at home from that very first visit. We also found an excellent caterer (Catered by Design) from their preferred catering list. Monique was a dream to work with--so organized and punctual yet laid-back and flexible. We received so many compliments on the venue from our guests. While we opted to have both our ceremony and reception indoors, Monique allowed us to open up the lawn and patio to guests for cocktail hour, which was absolutely stunning and a huge hit. I would recommend Kenilworth to anyone looking for a wedding venue!”

“Ravinia is the best concert venue i know of because it has enough space for people to avoid being overcrowded and offers ample space to avoid over exposure to loud music (I'm sensitive to loud volume). The crowd is always super nice. One or two times I went and the weather was sweltering but that comes with outdoor venues in Midwest summers.
I highly recommend Ravinia. The large trees, robust grass, and welcoming guests make for a fun and engaging concert experience.

If you have lawn tickets, you may want to bring a chair, and many people bring portable tables, and it's BYOB and BYOF (food), so it's a great way to minimize costs while enjoying a decadent concert experience.
Many attendees bring fancy table settings and throw themselves into the artistry of table art. Elaborate candlabras and designer table cloths and decor are fairly standard. The music talent they get is top notch.”

“We utilized The Forester for a large (20+) corporate workshop and the experience was excellent - rooms were set up with necessary A/V needs, and they had onsite help for the hiccups. “Shelly and the team at The Birchstone helped us out at the last minute when the venue we had booked cancelled on us two months before the wedding date. We had a micro wedding of only 32 guests so I was hesitant regarding the spaces feeling too large. After visiting the site, I knew right away that it was perfect! They had two smaller spaces that accommodated our group perfectly: one for cocktails and one for the dinner. They also had an outdoor courtyard for the ceremony which was beautiful surrounded by natural greenery and vines. The ceremony space felt beautiful and private.

Shelly made everything feel so special. The food was amazing, the staff were gracious and helpful and the space itself was just perfect! It was beyond my expectations and came together in such a short period of time.

I highly recommend Shelly's work at The Birchstone with Pear Tree Catering for any special event, whether a small event like ours of 32 people or a much larger wedding. The venue had everything we needed and more. (Shelly even pulled out a pool table which was set up perfectly in the back which was a big hit with many of the guests.)”

“My wife and I recently had our wedding at Loft 21 a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, the pictures, walk throughs and planning did not do justice to how amazing the venue was.My wife and I are planners and we booked with Loft 21 a year in advance, so you can imagine we had a lot of ideas for our wedding. The planning process with Loft was good, some minor miscommunication, but feel like that will happen anywhere when you're emailing back and forth for that long. We were quickly able to jump on the phone and hash out all the plans and timeline to make everything flow perfectly.Brittni (Operation Lead) did an amazing job for our ceremony and reception and made the day of so easy for us that we did not have to do anything before the wedding, other than setting up our own props. The pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception went so smoothly, it's really hard to believe. I would highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Loft 21 to any couple looking to get married in the area.I'd also highly recommend utilizing Loft 21s preferred vendors, specifically H.Y.P.E Media as the owner of Loft also owns them so it made the Music and Production so much easier on us.They allow you to customize pretty much your own event, from lighting to set up to bar package, to pretty much anything you can think of.Thank you again Loft 21, Brittni, Jazmine and everyone else at Loft 21 for making our day so special and easy on us!”

Julie was so helpful with the reservation and Colin was so accommodating in showing us the room and making sure we had everything we needed. They have new tables and new chairs. “A must see! Give yourself plenty of time to see this museum. Great displays telling the Holocaust stories. They do have guides to walk you through the displays. We haven't used them, but I'd recommend using them your first time through. I've been here 2 times and haven't taken enough time to see all in detail. Make sure you plan to see the 3D Holocaust survivor exhibit. It's a hologram of a survivor sitting on a chair telling their story. You can ask questions, and they answer. Very cool. They have a VR experience. I'd recommend you go to that. However, the technology needs upgrading. It's worth going to. Overall, highly recommend you visit and great for young adults to understand what really happened. Learn from history, so this never happens again.”

“Such a tremendous wedding venue in the Chicagoland area. The Armour House has a European Old World grandeur that is unmatched. We might as well have been in Italy all day long! I was so impressed and had so much fun playing on the grounds. It's elegant and romantic with plenty of outdoor and indoor spaces for photos. Can't say enough positive things about this stunning wedding venue!

“Great location on the north shore for concerts and other events. Venue hosts the occasional big name performer ( singers and musicians) as well emerging artists. A lot of fun! The space can also be rented for private events and functions, too.”

“Our daughter loves her team and coach. If your child is ready to go beyond park district soccer this is the club for you. Being a private club expect to pay and volunteer. But, we've watch our child grow rapidly in the few months she's been there.”

“My 11 yo daughter has gone here for five years, starting with rec classes and moved into the XCEL teams, and absolutely love it. She looks forward to practice, and the open gyms, and loves her coaches. She says they are really nice, and she enjoys being there so much.”
