Pet Care

St Francis Animal Hospital
718 S Washington St, Du QuoinMy family discovered Dr. Pirtle in 2000 with our beagle. Pupper had been shot by a pellet and our vet couldn’t see him urgently so we took him to Pirtle after calling around. Dr. Pirtle saved Puppers life! Years later when Pupper got cancer Dr. Pirtle gently put him down. I remember him saying “he’s gone” as compassionate as possible afterwards. I’ve stayed with Dr. Pirtle ever since. I moved to Marion for a few years and drove my beagle Rider to keep up the trend, when friends said I was “nuts” for driving 35 miles one way for Rider to see a Vet. Dr. Pirtle is a treasure and DQ has been so lucky to have him. I trust him with everything he recommends for my dogs. He’s gentle, he smiles, and you can tell that he is very passionate about his job. That’s something money can’t buy, especially nowadays.

Duquoin Veterinary Clinic
1277 S Washington St, Du QuoinOur pup had to have surgery on her tail. ? Everyone was kind and patient. I asked a lot of questions. They answered all of them and they are also the most affordable veterinary clinic in Southern Illinois. Cherry is doing much better.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

St. Nicholas Brewing Company
12 S Oak St, Du QuoinCame in for a last minute Father’s Day lunch. We were seated and attended to quickly. Server was kind and got our drinks quickly. They seemed to be pretty busy, but food came quickly and piping hot! We tried the Shepard pie with a pint. It was the special and only $18! We can hardly get a meal for that price at a fast food restaurant anymore. Food was delicious!

Perry County Humane Society
8365 IL-14, Du QuoinAdopted my dog Joey from here over a decade ago. He's changed my life dramatically for the better. Without him there's no wife, no kids, and less joy in the world. He was my wingman for my first date with my lovely wife.
Now that I have kids, he's a frustration (because of stuff like in the pic) but he's still my dude.
Thanks so much for rescuing him - he was beat up (bad paw and had worms, erc), but yall took him in. I've donated much in the past here, but haven't in a bit. When his birthday rolls around, I'll be sure to again.
