They don't suggest insurance when checking out. I have to bring it up to them & make sure they add the insurance to the rental.

Can you please tell us when you'll be opening? The sign on your door keeps giving a new date to open. And your website says you're open when clearly you're NOT! It is getting frustrating trying to make a reservation, and then your opening date is changed. And no I will not go to the airport to rent a car. I have been going to enterprise instead.

I've always had excellent customer service at the Hertz East Moline location. However, the office has been closed since March 20, 2025, and I miss having the convenience of a car rental service only a few blocks from where I live. Really hoping the East Moline location opens soon.

A lot could have gone wrong but Nora Almanza made it right! We ordered a midsized SUV for our family trip to FL. We were initially given one that could only be classified as small. Nora let us look at another...still too small. Finally she gave us the option of taking one that had just come in. It was probably slightly larger than what we ordered so we were pleased and ok with the fact that it hadn't been checked and cleaned.
Unfortunately, once we got on the highway we discovered the front sensor wasn't functioning correctly, so features like front crash assist and cruise control weren't working right. It took a while but we fugured out how to make the cruise control work anyway.
When we got back I told Nora what was wrong with the vehicle so they could address it before the next customer. I didn't ask for any money back, but without asking she just refunded $75 to our credit card!
I see all the negative feedback and I would be upset too, but I wanted everyone to know that they get it right sometimes! Nora made us happy enough that we'll be back, but I am specifically going to ask for her next time!

They charged my card for a car they said they did not have in stock that I did not use.

Customer service at this place is nonexistent. Despite making a reservation for a car days in advance--and getting confirmation of said reservation--I was left stranded and unable to get anyone on the phone.
When I went to the office, I was first told that someone left me a voicemail (they did not) and then told their phones were down. I was told there were no cars available, despite having a reservation, and I should come back the following morning at 8:30 and they would have a car available.
There was no car available the next morning, and they told me they MIGHT have something later in the afternoon.
Both women I spoke to at the office acted as if I was out of line thinking my reservation meant I would actually get a rental vehicle.
They had no problem charging my credit card, though.
Don't bother using Hertz if you want anything other than frustration and lost time.
Edit: how can this be made a five-star experience? Honor the reservation.

I tried for a whole week to get my rental car and because of lies and miscommunication I was unable to take one of my family friends to the hospital where they died over the weekend. Hertz stole a goodbye from me I will never be able to get back. They are unprofessional, disrespectful and foul with their handling of accident claim rentals. I would NEVER recommend them and will pay whatever I must to use enterprise or anyone else the next time I need a rental car. Very disappointed and hurt by their selfish and rude actions. Zero stars and I hope karma allows them to one day feel how they have caused me to feel. I am pregnant and one weekend I loose my car, the next I loose a friend I don’t get to ever say goodbye to because people are selfish, lazy and unprofessional. When I did get my rental the first thing I had to do was air the tires because one was critically low, a very uncomfortable task while pregnant especially for a car that cost me so much and so long to get. DO NOT USE OR TRUST HURTZ! (Hertz)

The woman who helped us was so great! She answered all our questions, helped us find solutions to our problem and knew what she was doing. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Showed up on Saturday to pick up our rental due to our car needing to go into the shop to be fixed because we had been rear-ended a week prior, state farm recommended Hertz. When we showed up their computer system for state farm claims was down, we were supposed to drop our vehicle off at the repair shop that day and we were supposed to be heading to Tennesee in the rental the next morning. State Farm had set us up with a full size rental/van, however we were told we could not be helped until Monday by Hertz and acted like it was not a big deal that we had wasted time driving to pick the rental up and had to leave without it. So we delay our trip and call Monday morning and we are told they had already rented out the only van they had but they had a small suv on site, which was not going to work for our families needs due to having a lot of luggage/softball equipment. Whoever I was on the phone with at Hertz had an awful attitude and was snippy with me most of the conversation. State farm was able to cancel our reservation thank goodness and we switched to Enterprise and they had us in a van in a half hour!

Poor management. Avoid Hertz, Especially the east moline location. They are scam artists. Paid ahead of time and arrived for my rental just for them to cancel my reservation. They cancelled my rental and told me to go to the airport, which i did.
The airport could not honor my reservation. Went back to East Moline and they wouldnt rent to me because they needed my car for tomorrow.

It is nearly impossible to a human when trying to check the status of your reservation or when your shuttle is supposed to arrive.
When you request an operator the robot hangs up on you. Ridiculous

How dumb is it to call me the day of and tell me I can be put on a waiting list for the next 48 hours for a car. Clearly I needed car today or I wouldn't have reserved it for today You guys suck balls and I'll never be back.?
