“Long story short, I am a homebrewer and I had the opportunity to get to know a lot of the brewers in the St Louis area. One brewer has a specialty for making aged sour beers (Alpha Brewing) and he was selling a used wine barrel that was freshly emptied. We purchased this barrel for the unique purpose of a guest registry for our wedding. We had it signed by all of our guests, and then we cherished it for about a year. When we moved into the new house, it got stuck in storage and all but forgotten about. As big as the house was, with 5 kids living with us, there was no room for it. As we recently became empty nesters, we de idea to repurpose the barrel. A quick Facebook search led us to Second Hand Barrels. After much discussion with the owners, we decided to take the barrel to them. When they saw it, they knew it was going to be a challenge since it was a wine barrel. They took it on. After modifying their tools to accept a larger diameter and about 6 weeks of patiently waiting, they revealed the final product. Talk about two excited customers! Oh my. Now I have another project for them......”
“I am visiting St. Louis and stumbled on this place by accident when doing a scenic drive from Alton to Grafton. Wow, what a tremendous selection of pottery, much of it made in-house as well as a wide selection by regionally-known and nationally-known ceramic artists. I initially bought two pieces for myself and then returned a few days later to buy a few more pieces, both for myself and as gifts. Owners/staff were super helpful and patiently answered my many questions regarding glazes used and firing techniques.”
“The Rustic Roots Rally Room made such an awesome venue for our reception. It looks so gorgeous when lit up; and the staff do as much as they can to make the event as seamless as possible with the look you envision.
Plus, they have a bar that you can take advantage of during your event. My guests really enjoyed trying the different options, and took pictures of the alcohol they want to buy more of in the future.
One caveat: they only take cash at the bar, so make sure to go to an ATM beforehand.”
“Love this place!! It was my sister and I's first time coming and will be back again. I will suggest the number thing should not be... That is very confusing for people who haven't been. Make people wait in a line, pray and have everyone walk in. We are grown ups and think we can abide by standing in a line. I have been to places that we have stood in a line for an hour or so but again, that wont deter us from coming. Purchased ALOT of goodies”
“This store carries smart, timeless classics that are vintage without the hefty cost and some of the most amazing vintage and interesting furnishings I’ve ever seen. If the owner, Kim, doesn’t have it, she will find it - and she also does some in house decorating! Go in, meet Kim, find something fabulous! Absolutely cool store & great location!”
“They always have the best deals. I found a chunky pair of chucks that I've been looking for for 5 years. Only paid $30 for them and they cost like 60 on the internet”
“Such a cute little shop with talented local makers. As a vendor and a customer, my experience has always been excellent. Aimee & Brad go the extra mile to make sure you find what you need or connect you with a maker that can make a custom item for you!”
