“I own a 2017 1.6 Turbo with a GDI engine, and after 60,000 miles of regular maintenance—including full-synthetic oil changes and using Shell gasoline as recommended—I found that my car required a valve and piston cleaning due to carbon buildup. Despite keeping the car clean and well-maintained, this is a common issue with GDI engines over time.
Initially, I planned to tackle this job myself, but due to time constraints and the need for an extra set of hands, I decided to look for professional help. After conducting thorough research, I discovered that Sparks in Lake Zurich offers Walnut Blasting services, which is exactly what I needed.
I reached out for an estimate, and the quote I received was both fair and transparent, especially considering the equipment and time required to effectively clean the valves and pistons. Jose Carrillo, a representative from Sparks, was particularly helpful, providing clear information on the best time to drop off my car and an estimated timeline for the service.
The communication with Sparks has been excellent so far, and although I haven’t yet had the service completed, I am already confident in this business, enough to leave a 5-star review. I will update this review once my vehicle has been serviced”

I still bring my Explorer to Wickstrom and they continue to do great work. Super nice people and always talk me through the process. They take great care of my car and appreciate how kind they are every time I come in. I typically use Jon in the service department and he’s awesome; super helpful. I recently had Rob as my service advisor and he was great too! Everyone is super helpful.
I did not buy my Ford Explorer through Wickstrom but that hasn’t stopped them from giving me outstanding service. I only take my explorer to Wickstrom thanks to their fantastic service department. I drive over 40 minutes to get my oil changed just so I can have these guys do the work. Austin in the service department has been awesome to work with. I’ve have a few recalls and a repair done and every time he’s kept me in the loop. The facility is clean and so welcoming and everyone is so nice. Hoping my explorer makes it quite a few more years but when I need a new car I’ll definitely be getting one through Wickstrom. Great job guys!”
“Great service! They came recommended by my Audi dealership (they are Audi certified). I brought in my 2023 Audi Q7 which some little kids used as a chalkboard and drew on the passenger side door and front fender with a rock. Scratches cut to the primer, so I was not expecting a buff job will work, but they did their best and got most of them out. Still debating if I should get the door painted - they gave me a reasonable quote, I think.”

“I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Greentech, especially with their mechanic, Mike. I initially thought I needed a costly hybrid battery replacement, but Mike’s honesty and expertise saved me thousands of dollars. Instead of rushing to replace the battery, he thoroughly examined my car, ran tests, and discovered that the issue wasn’t battery-related at all.
Mike found that oil had gotten into the air intake, preventing the car from functioning properly. He showed me the air filter, where there was quite a bit of oil, and explained how this was causing the problem. He didn’t just tell me; he took the time to show me the issue and walk me through it with complete transparency.
