The Lake Forest USPS office lists walk-in passport hours as 8-10am on Saturdays. We drove all the way there last Saturday only to be refused service. They were ill-prepared to be able to provide the service stating they were understaffed with only one clerk. That clerk was too busy to service us as she had a report deadline to meet.
They also seemed shocked that the service was listed. How can they receive customers for a service they are not aware they provide on Saturday mornings?
The lady at the front desk then advised I go to Round lake library for passport services, which is 40 minutes away. What a huge inconvenience!

I read through the reviews and I don’t understand how so many people are having problems with this post office. The girls are wonderful and I’ve never once seen them be even remotely rude. I’ve worked for the post office, most customers don’t understand certain rules that have to be followed. Doesn’t matter who it upsets. Although I do know that there use to be a girl named Janet and there’s this other one named Grisel who could learn to be kinder, but the other two clerks are so so sweet. If people are having problems i can only imagine it’d be one of those two. People need to stop giving this post office a bad name just because they didn’t like the answers they received.

The USPS representative in Lake Forest was very unhelpful when I wanted to send an international package (you know, to the other world). The woman behind the counter dismissed my questions like I was wasting her time. Instead, she pointed me towards the ‘International Forms’ on the far wall. When I couldn’t find the form amongst the chaos of misfiled pamphlets, I turned to ask for her assistance again, but she had closed the window. Terrible service. Not the first time. Probably the last.

Absolutely the worst. Most unfriendly people work here. We’ve been here multiple times thinking perhaps we just got someone on a bad day, it’s every day. They are all rotten. Avoid this place at all costs.

I had a postal money order that could not be used for the purpose intended so I needed to have the money refunded. I asked the Lake Forest post office multiple times if I could have the money refunded. They insisted multiple times that the post office could not do so, but that a bank could refund it. My bank said no, only the PO could do it. So I went back to the LF post office and they said the bank was wrong. I finally gave up dealing with the Lake Forest post office and went to Highland Park. A staff member there told me yes, the post office could and should refund the money. She went above and beyond the call of duty to help.

This post office is awful. The Tyrant Terminator did a great job exposing the people who work here.

Had to call multiple times and have the hold timed out repeatedly before someone decided to answer the phone. They told me to call another number then that number told me to call the original number again. Not very organized. I just want the envelope I signed for delivered.

Refused to take a letter to Spain as the “process took to long and it was a Saturday” no wonder the USPS is a money sapping laughing stock, staff can’t be bothered to do even the most basic of tasks

Our carrier, Lori acts like she’s on drugs and drunk half the time. Really wish we could get a new carrier. She’s a joke!

I’m not a permanent resident here, I come every few months, but at this post office, you either have a really nice employee or you strike out with an employee who acts like they’d rather be doing anything else. However, I’ve heard the building is a bit of a local tourist destination, and how could it not be? An art deco style building that looks like a fortress? However, they need to make some renovations in the interior as there are holes in the wall.
