“I prefer an experience when visiting a shopping center, mall, etc. Brookside Marketplace is clean, very clean and extremely convenient: lies along a major intersection off of Harlem Ave., and I-80. It has all the typical brand stores you’ll see anywhere else, along w/your typical cheap eateries. The reason I gave it four stars is bc the shopping center is well maintained and safe, yet it’s simply boring. There’s nothing that draws you. It’s a non-experiential center. There are no upscale dinings, or department stores to be had. It desperately needs that. There’s also no movie theaters in the entire village of Tinley Park: this would be the perfect venue for one. With the convention center directly in the area, the developers dropped the ball: the marketplace could a magnet for convention goers and those visiting/traveling along the major interstate(I-80), that sits directly alongside the Brookside Marketplace. I honestly think this mall would at least have better esthetics if it were at least and outdoor themed shopping center. I visit Kohl’s, I shop SuperTarget, I purchase from Best Buy. I live behind the center, so it’s an easy cruise up the street from me. I’m a Tinley Park resident. I’ll stop by Jersey Mike’s and buy a sandwich and maybe run over to The Saucy Crab for a bite to eat. Issue is, I’ll make one run to Brookside Marketplace and out. There’s nothing there that keeps me there: nothing exciting or appealing to the shopper who wants to spend money that draws my attention to want to spend much money. The Brookside Marketplace is simply BORING and yet convenient enough for quick purchases or a cheap meal and you’re out of there. I hope the developers read my review and consider making the Marketplace an experience. It’s your same ole generic shopping center.”

“I visit Pekoe and Bean, which is a quaint little coffee and tea shop in Tinley Square. I go every couple of weeks or so because I love the ambiance and their finger sandwiches and scones.”

“Best ice cream! But waffle cone mushy. The price was almost $5 a cone. Very pricey for a working class summer treat. Would we go again? Not rt away but absolutely.”

“This mall is a masterpiece! I’m happy that there is an Aldi at a Mall so people can get groceries there if they want to. There is so much variety and this mall is more safer than Ford City Mall! I will be returning again!”

“It's a jewel osco... Like a vons or a Safeway... They are all owned by the same company so they are all typical and look the same. We like the ready made food here since their cooks do a good job. There's a Starbucks inside which offers a good selection. It's more expensive than the Walmart grocery store unless there's a sale. The sales are the only thing that could make your bill less than a Walmart bill. The parking lot is a bit beat up and I always feel I'm going to hit someone when I come in here cause of all the stop signs and crosswalks. If that's a worry for you, just drive either behind the stores or come in from the 115th side. I usually enter from the kedzie side. All in all, average but nice and I drop a star because the parking lot needs a makeover and maybe a new layout.”

“I wish this entire area could be revitalized, and that developers and town officials could figure out a way to bring back some anchor stores...for one, good, established, anchor store will attract another and another. How I miss the physical shopping experience, and I am sure that many others do as well. Will someone please spearhead the return of the shopping malls...! Please!”

“Within walking distance to a few interesting areas, lots of public transportation!Room was very large. Breakfast very good. Pizza in the lobby was quite good. This hotel seems to be more of a convention type hotel, huge lobby. Very loud, crowded elevators. It was different than what we thought. But very friendly and accommodating.”

“? Shopped Jewel Osco since the early 70's. Quality has always been consistently good. Meats are fresh, produce in good variety, generally can find what you need. The pandemic has affected most stores one way or another. Check the expiration dates on things occasionally bought can goods that should have been removed long ago. I suppose staff that kept up with that pre-pandemic have moved on to other jobs. Prices have increased as they have in all stores so you have to be extremely selective in all your purchases. Happy shopping ?”

“Red Star Kitchen was fantastic, however the Fried Catfish and grits weren't what I expected. The flavors were spot on but the grits were too firm. I cut through them with my fork. The description said the grits would be creamy. They weren't. Again the flavors were delicious but I like my grits in liquid form but not soupy....creamy.”

“Malls are in decline in general, but we went here and got a blast of nostalgia. You know what this place has? WATER FEATURES! I feel like every mall had water fountains in the 90s. That was part of the whole thing! Now they're all gone. My only regret is that I didn't have a quarter on me to throw in.”

“I had a item to return to JC Penny and I live in a western suburb, on the other side of town . I kept the item in my car to remember to return it. Now I am visiting a southside suburb and I wind up in Calument City and decide to return my item I had in my car for over a month or so! This was my first time at this JC Penny and it was a very busy time in the store while I was there. But 2 of your employees went out of their way, I feel to help me. They were kind and patient with me and I got what I needed and made another purchase while I was there. Talk about first impressions! Thank you Daisy and Darden (I hope his name is correct) You two were the best! Another lady referred me to Daisy but I cannot remember her name; she was very helpful and patient as well. Thank you all. Keep up the great customer service! It really does make a difference! Minnie R. Elmwood Park, IL.”
