“We are so grateful to have had our wedding at the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association (NCCA)! Woody and his team were wonderful to work with - from first touring the venue to clean-up the morning after. Set in the beautiful neighborhood of Oak Park, the NCCA is surrounded by community parks and historic homes by Frank Loyd Wright. We also had easy access to the local hotel to host our guests overnight. This wedding venue is reasonably priced with true historic charm. The food and beverages were excellent. We held our ceremony/cocktail hour on the first floor and reception on the second floor, comfortably accommodating our guest count of 175 people. Woody is responsive and flexible. He is willing to support creative endeavors to make your wedding feel original. We feel so fortunate to have found the NCCA to host our wedding - we would absolutely recommend it to you!”

People from all over the country talk about how unique the Chicago Jewish community is to have an organization that supports them through so many avenues like Chesed Chicago does. They do it with dignity and anonymously. I wouldn’t be able to mention in one post all the ways they help, but we are talking about groceries, furniture, every day essentials, toys, bikes, baby needs, financial support and advice, etc.

Don't mention the dogs. Grandma, and a house. All gone now including my husband, so I had to learn to budget my bills, money, and time. 'Ceda to the rescue.' They took care of and continue to keep my bills low so I can live without stress over this months as well as next months bills. I can breathe, and learning how to sleep, 'at easy souldier', 'relax,' 'rest well.' I was told by friends and family. It's going to be a good live.”

“Nice indoor pool area, had a splash park for the littles, a nice 8+ lane lap pool, and a “wellness pool.” The wellness pool was warmer water and had two submerged stationary bikes. Very unique! It is meant to be a calmer experience. Children and families were playing in there too, which wasn’t a problem.”

“Located in a large modern architectural building in the Chicago neighborhood, Lawndale, BBF is very welcoming. They offer so many important services in this low-income community. -Social programs, academic tutoring, emotional health services and career development opportunities. When I was asked to volunteer at a city wide "baby shower" and toy giveaway, I knew immediately that I wanted to do it. Spending my day greeting expectant mothers and children who were anxious to pick out toys, I was so glad to be a part of the event. I knew that Lawndale had a lot of gun violence, but I still met way more young pregnant mothers who had just recently lost their partners to it than I expected. Way more. Gun violence and poverty is a serious threat to this community, so organizations like Building Brighter Futures are so needed. The event held here was pretty amazing. Not only were there tons of brand new baby clothing, but there were also new strollers, pack-n-plays, and breast pumps. They had free toys for kids and they had massage therapists on site who were offering free prenatal massages for the expectant mothers. It was truly wonderful to see so many people come together to help some of the most vulnerable people in this community. -women and children.This is a great organization to consider if you're wanting to donate time and money to something of real value.”

Not to mention if you are living in an apartment, like me, there is no place to put everything. Chicago Tool Library has allowed me to practice new skills without draining my money and worrying about space. They are always kind and helpful, while putting community first. I tell everyone to check them out!”
