Rented a unit last Thursday…my daughter went there to drop off her whole household full of things after renting a UHual. The code wouldn’t work to get in and they said they would have to get a hold of someone higher and that. Hold take 24/28 hours. What was my daughter supposed to do with a whole truck load of things? I asked for my money back and it has now been 4 business days and I still haven’t received it!!! Said the owner is out of town and can’t do it until he gets back and I asked is that how you conduct business and the rep hung up on me!! Stay away from that place because they give you an incorrect code and won’t refund your money! So they actually stole over $100 of mine!!

Convenient location in Milan with both climate controlled inside units & drive-up outside units. The on-site manager (Hap) is a great guy! Not only does he go above & beyond for us customers, he's also heavily involved in the community! 5 stars on my end!

We’ve used it a number of times over the years and it used to be better than it is. Broken glass in front of the unit next to ours and no one will clean it up, though I called several times. Our door came off the track so it will neither fully close nor open, and there is no urgency from them to fix it so we don’t end up with raccoons or other wildlife camping in our stuff. It is feeling like a place that got forgotten these days. They forced us to buy their insurance that we don’t want (we’d have happily signed a waiver but that is not an option). I am anxious to get our stuff out as soon as can be managed and then we won’t go back there again.

Good storage .. affordable and clean but the keypad entries barely work it’s always a chance your not getting in and the people on the phone aren’t from around here and don’t know what they are doing I have had my storage unit for a week and only got in once! Now my car has been full for a week and idk what to do with my stuff

Moved out in January 2024. Gave my notice. Cleaned unit. Moved out a few days ahead of schedule. NEVER got my deposit back! I have called several times. I was told I would receive refund check. NEVER got it. Here we are six months later. Still no return of my deposit.
And please don't respond to this post. You have had over six months to refund my money and haven't.

It's actually warm inside during the winter with the climate controlled storage. My stuff has been safe. It's a clean place with security cameras. Really wish it was more wheelchair accessible to get inside. The ramp is accessible in the summer, but doesn't seem to be maintained well in the winter. The inside is perfectly fine for me.Haven't seen anyone in the office once, yet there appears to be a mysterious upstairs which I'm curious about but wheelchair... -1 star for problem with Wheelchair. There's a back door, I've seen people seem to use but I've never used myself and I'm not sure if there's a pin code lock or what over there.Maybe it's only for people who work there? I will have to check it out next time. Maybe there's an easier entrance for wheelchairs at the back door. Is the owner contacts me back on this to help me understand, then I will write a different review.

My son used this. Nice indoor climate controlled storage at $30 a month. He rented a smaller area for his needs.

I also am concerned for those who have or are thinking about renting a unit at Milan Storage. I had rented unit #514, back in May of 2021, and paid for an entire year ($663.50) at that time. All went well. I later moved to a different unit #569, in June of 2022, and again paid for the entire year ($540) at that time. I have paperwork which shows my next payment would be due on July 6, 2023. I had spoken to owner (Ben Jacobs at that time), that I may be moving out completely prior to the end date of the contract, and would I be able to get a refund for the unused portion of the rent. He advised me that "yes, I would be refunded any unused rental amount. I live in Florida and flew back the first part of May 2023, and May6, 2023, completely moved out everything in the unit. At that time, I also noticed that in the office area of the business, everything there had also been removed. I was told that morning the business had been sold, but no further information was given to me. It was nearly impossible to ever have anyone answer the phone and the 3 times that someone did answer, all they would say was that the business had been sold and someone would call me back. No one EVER returned my calls. I tried contacting the new owner by sending emails, but again, to no avail. In my opinion, this is some sort of a scam and those interested in renting a storage unit in the Milan, Illinois area, should look somewhere else, as I now wish I had, because in the end, you'll wish you had if you haven't.I file a claim with the BBB, and they also were not able to make any contact with the business. I sent copies of all the paperwork I had, to the business, asking that I be refunded the $90, I had been told by Mr. Jacobs I would receive if I left early. I refused, and I have been unable to reach Mr. Jacobs by any means and have tried all options I can think of. Be aware consumers. I don't know who these people are, but you do not want to do business with this company.

I purchased unit 514 and paid $660 for the entire year on 10 May 2021. At that time Ben Jacobs was the owner I believe. Then on, 1 May 2022, paid another $100 to move to unit 591, and on 10 June 2022, moved yet again to unit 569 and paid another $539.67. Ben rounded up to $540, which was for another year. I live in Florida and decided to move everything down there. I flew up to the Quad cities on 5 May 2023 and had everything cleaned out of unit 569, early morning of 6 May. I was paid up to 6 July 2023, and should have gotten a refund of $90. Apparently, the facility had been sold. I called the phone number listed and got someone that said there was a new owner and that he would check and get back to me. Never happened. Called again, and a woman, who said she didn't know if they gave refunds or not but would check and get back to me. Never happened again. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB, who after a month, said they could not reach anyone. I deserve that refund of $90, as I was completely out of the unit, swept it out and removed my lock, early morning, before 8am, on 6 July 2023. After seeing the reviews here, I thought I would submit one myself, as I see that refunds are being done. I have heard nothing back from anyone.Now that I know others have received their due refund(s), I want mine. If I don't hear back from anyone this time, I will again contact the BBB. Thanks for your help.

Had the pleasure of renting a unit at this place recently and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The on-site manager, Hap, is truly the heart of the place - always welcoming, helpful, and ensuring things run smoothly. The upgrade to HD security cameras gives me peace of mind that my belongings are safe, and it's hard to miss the iconic rotating horse on the billboard! I purchased a storage unit July 8th and no longer needed the unit so I canceled the unit.I have been calling to get my money refunded back into my account since I didn’t need it and it has been nothing but a problem and it’s been two weeks now and every time I call they tell me it’s out of my control now it’s up to higher management.They can never get a hold of higher management.Then today I was told they could be on vacation or sick leave. That’s fine but I want my money back from something that I didn’t use.Quick to take it out my account but resistance to place it back in there. Within two weeks you should have heard from someone.And they always tell me we will get ahold of you before the day is out…Nope..Make this make sense to me.

Just a heads up, Milan Storage has new owners. Went out today and both of ours are missing locks and have been gone through. If you have a locker, make sure you go check it out. I am concerned for everyone. There are no cameras down the rows.

New owner recently, missed a payment unit didn’t get locked super cool right but make sure that you don’t call them and pay because when you ask if there was a lock on it they like to put one on it after you reach 0$ balance. Poor management for sure, hard to get ahold of and hard to get anything done for you in a situation like that. This is the type of company that would just love to steal your stuff and charge you for it
