Refused to cash third party check when we had IDs available and an account set up through my mom. Called over the phone after the teller had refused us and they told me they could cash it if they felt it wasn’t fraud but the teller just brushed us off. Felt very disrespected. Will not be going through Mt Vernon branch... read full comment

Awesome bank! There's two branches in Mt. Vernon, which makes it convenient being on both ends of town. Drive thru opens at 730 am on Monday thru Friday, 800 am on Saturday. ATM at both locations too. If you lose, have a damaged ATM card they can make a new one on site (which most banks can't do).
Since 1906, our bank has been serving Jefferson County, Illinois. From 1906 to 2008, we operated as First National Bank which was originally chartered in Woodlawn, IL. We are proud to have been the only national bank to survive the Depression in Jefferson County, and we're proud of our history of service to Jefferson County.
In January, 2008, we changed our banking charter to a State Charter. We held a contest in which our customers would come up with a new name for our bank. It was named Community First Bank of the Heartland, and we really do strive to put Community First in everything we do. Today, we have locations in Mt. Vernon (42nd Street and Downtown), Dix, Woodlawn, and Ina. We offer 5 banking locations and 7 ATMs.
