26 year member calling it quits. GLCU used to be the best bank with phenomenal service. Did everything I needed to do via the phone teller or a phone call from anywhere in the world. Later the app came along and it was very good up until the point that they spun off their credit card services to a third party. Pretty much all downhill from there. I dislike writing negative reviews, and maybe they’re still good as long as you’re in the local area, but they used to go out of their way to take care of their military personnel, now we just sit on hold for hours at a time only to be immediately hung up on when they finally pick up. Overall, three stars due to the outstanding service they gave over the years, GLCU just no longer appears to be able properly care for its out-of-area customers. Making the switch to Navy Federal.

unbelievable lack of knowledge when you call customer service. I asked what daily withdrawals are on a savings account in the event you needed to withdraw any. The woman started talking about losing interest (which was not the questin) then I said thats not what I asked you. She then started talking about CD's. Finally I asked for someone more knowledgeable and was told there was one other person but she couldn't come to the phone. I'm going with another bank.

I came in to branch to get a new debit card. The teller printed the card and handed it to me. I got home and realized that she gave me someone else's card. When I returned I was sent to another teller and I asked if they printed my card and gave it to someone else and they told me they didn't but I have no way of actually verifying that and unfortunately due to the situation and other situations in the past my trust with them is not very strong. Keep in mind this is after I called the bank when I first got the card I was replacing to tell them that the car they sent me in the mail was fading and not working properly and they told me that I had to pay for another card which made no sense to me. I let the situation go then but it appears this may be a practice. I had already started to move some of my money from this bank to my other Savings Bank but I will start moving more and close my bank account out within the next month. Great Lakes Credit Union, please train your employees again. There is a clear issue of lack of training or accountability of training that has been provided.

Worst Bank Ever.Racist and always looking as though if you're black you get back.Holding checks for days before they cash it.No loans given out to blacks, even with a good credit score.Racist as hell.

Open an account Friday and was told all my account information would be emailed to me. Somehow my information was sent to the WRONG EMAIL then I got a email 2 days later Sunday at 4am saying some information on my account was changed. Smh Monday I went back and closed my account with so much going on how can I trust a bank that gave all my finance information to someone else. Jalessa is the bester worker they have and she did try to assist I wish she would have set up my account I might have stayed.

I have a 30 year old savings bond - they stop earning interest at 30 years. The bond is in my name and I have an accounts with Great Lakes Credit Union. Before I brought it to the bank I checked the US Treasury site to verify it's authenticity and the amount it's worth. GLCU would not accept it. The US Treasury site says that between 90 and 95 percent of banks and credit unions accept them. I guess GLCU is one of the 5% that don't.

It's Monday, and this is the third open day in a row that I've tried to get through by phone. I called 2.5 hours ago and requested a callback in the system. I wonder if that will happen while they are still open, or if this will be like the prior two days, when hours passed and no representative ever came on the line, and the phone line closed for the day Without anyone taking my call.

I got a home loan through great lakes credit union. With out me knowing they sold my loan to a company with terrible reviews and that reported my loan to my credit report 10000 more then my loan was even for do not get a mortgage with this company they are terrible

Why is it when my account goes locked after verifying I made a purchase I have to call the to unlock it? Half the time their number does not connect AND I'm on hold or have to request a "call back" because they have minimal staff to answer calls. I dont trust this process if I needed to reach someone overseas. Here I am and I cannot check my account because they blocked me THE OWNER to have access! The ratings are for: 1. Unreliable phone number2. Holds are often too long3. Locking my account online after verifying purchases4. The lack of getting ANYONE to talk to you in a swift manner. Nobody should have to wait to get things fixed!Switching Banks

Absolutely terrible customer service. Every time I call there's at least an hour hold. When you leave a message it takes almost a week for them to call back. Can never get anyone to call me back. What's the point of having your money there if you can access it?
