“I have never found so many pieces that I love in one trip. The items are curated so well and at fair prices. You don't have to look for hours before finding something interesting.The vibe of the place is really cute and the owner is super nice. She told me that there are new items circulating in almost daily as well. Definitely a place I want to return.I'm taking off a star because of the lighting however... although it is a fun ambience, the dim lighting makes it really hard to see what you're actually looking at. I ended up with jeans that I thought were a stonewashed blue, but were actually a kind of nasty yellow-tinted color. I'm going to try and bleach them because they're amazing otherwise!But my advice to the owner is to create better lighting, even if it's only in/near the fitting room. That would help so so much!”

“Such a cool shop! I recently visited this shop for the first time and feel in love with so many of their items. I ended up purchasing a pair of vintage chairs and love them in my space.My overall experience was great. The staff were super helpful when purchasing the chairs, they had them cleaned for me, and made picking them up super easy. “This vintage shop is beautifully curated. Not only are all of the items -- from antiques to vintage clothes --clean and pressed/polished, but they carry a range (and I mean a range!) of sizes. Prices are fair. Are they thrift store prices? No. But you're paying for the curation and care of solid vintage pieces. And, again--- the sizes!!!!”

“One of the best toy shops in the city. They offer a wide variety of well curated items across different eras from modern to vintage with very fair prices. Employees are helpful and the owner is honest, friendly, and clearly has a love for what he does. They also do art shows on a regular basis and sell original pieces in the shop. “It's genuinely one of the better thrift shops. Why? Prices. The pricing is fantastic. Yes this place supports a charity, but they also aren't trying to gauge me for a used item with no return policy. I wish people would stop paying higher prices to other places that are charity driven. Because this model works. They get plenty of donations, they are constantly busy, I always spend a lot of money there. Also Kevin fixes watch batteries! It's perfect.”

“Upon first entering The Brown Elephant, you might feel that this is not your average Thrift store. In some sections, it is more organized than other stores of its kind. This store has more furniture than anything else, and the prices were a little higher than your average Thrift store. I would suggest checking in here every once in a while, as their inventory changes quickly. Also like to support this store because proceeds go to health screenings and support for the LGBTQ community”

“This review is in response to "Cynthia Dukes" review.......I have had the luxury of being associated with the owner, staff, and the overall "vibe" of Kelsey Resale for for the last year and a half. I have never been exposed to such a positive group of people and place of business in my 57 years of being on this planet. I have personally got to know everyone that works there and every single individual I have met has made me a better person. The way that they conduct themselves should be the model for every small business. Please keep in mind that I come from a completely different professional background, which is why I have been so impressed.Here is where it gets dicey, Cynthia Duke has personally attacked the "Owner" which also happens to be my Wife. My Wife, the "Owner" is a lot of things, none of which even come close to what Cynthia is describing. She is the best human being on this planet that I have ever met. She is sweet, caring, selfless, humble, and possibly the most compassionate woman ever. I also think that she is the most beautiful person ever! BUT, she also has a business to run, sometimes the inventory items that she has to take in for consignment may be of significant value to the consigner, but not necessarily be of value to Kelsey Resale, which is why I feel Cynthia is attacking my Wife. It is just the business model that has made Kelsey Resale successful. There is no need for anyone to take it personally.You can attack the business model, attack me, but to attack my Wife is way out of bounds Cynthia!”

“Fun place to spend some time walking around hunting for unique items. You don’t come here looking for something, the store tells you what you need! Found an awesome solid oak coat rack with an old “Property of Cook County” tag on it, and a cool newspaper clipping from the old Rock Island Railway. Deb knew exactly where this piece was hanging up and the story behind it, makes it that much cooler. Would love to see some of the slower moving (kitchen/commercial/restaurant) items cleared out and the boxed items displayed or made more visible. I’m sure there’s some real treasures hiding in this place.”

“Store is ok. Slightly better than other Goodwills. Not as large as you’d think on the inside. Prices are pretty standard being that it is Goodwill. They were consistently bringing new products out to the floor though which is nice. Bring your own bag, though!”
