Great place, just wish the waterfalls would’ve been running!

Nasty unkept bathrooms, 2/3 toilets clogged the 4 days we stayed. You have to leave campground and drive to nearby hiking trails

A bottom-tier campground. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the Michigan state park campgrounds, but there was little redeeming value. The ranger station at entry has a bunch of hostile, handwritten signs warning of the various don’ts. A COMBINED fill and dump station had a SINGLE line with a very menacing tire spike that would punish anyone trying to go the wrong way. (Why is this even a thing? Who benefits from a disabled RV stuck in the dump line?!) The sites are either in dense woods or open sun; not a great balance. There’s no bike or pedestrian path to the park—have to drive the 1.6 miles. And the bathrooms, which are not centrally located, had 1/3 working stalls (both in men’s and women’s). Overall, just a very unwelcoming, sub-par campground.

Not a very good campground. Need to mow and trim. Restrooms and showers need lots of improvement. Pit toilets are terrible. Camp hosts don't do much. Definitely will NOT camp here again.

Unusual campground. I was disappointed to find out the actual park was a few miles away from the campground and that you had to drive to the state park. I wish I had asked to do a loop around the campground before picking a spot, some were huge with lots of privacy, some were tiny with very little privacy. Eerily quiet after dark.

We enjoyed our time at Starved Rock State Park. The campground is nice with plenty of space in between the sites but the need to do something about the restrooms/showers on the east loop where we stayed. The two loops in the campground each with a shower house. The west loop is pretty open with some trees for shade and has two vault toilet locations on the loop. The west loop is mostly thick trees with lots of shade and privacy however there are no vault toilets in the loop but they did drop a few porta potties. One of the showers on this loop was out of service in mens' and womens' side leaving one shower for the entire loop.

Where to begin:( the worst unkept State Park we have encountered! 2 bath houses with nasty clogged toilets for 133 spots. Broken shower head. Porta potties advertised as restrooms not maintained if ever, full of crap to the top, no toilet paper. Disgustingly filthy..
Shocked by people that keep coming back.
U have to leave the campground & drive 2-4 miles to enjoy the hiking trails.
Firepits r so tall u need a cord of wood to beable to enjoy.
Roads r terrible.
We travel state parks around our beautiful country & keep notes. This park is so disappointing.
We Will Never Return.

Nice campground. Pretty and well maintained. Helpful staff and great security. Gate closes at 10. Not very many water taps. Good idea to fill tank before parking RV.

Do Not listen to the negative reviews!! It's camping not a resort lol. The sites are so big, fire pits with grills, electric, staff was so friendly and nice! Beautiful sites, creeks, and trails. You do have to drive to the trails so maybe keep that in mind when your bringing a camper. Push button showers, nice and clean!! Best thing: no golf carts driving around all night!! Sooo many stars out too!! Nothing negative to say at all!!!Nearby activities: Trails and cute town in Utica.Safety: Very safe.Walkability: Need to bring a car to get to trails.

I had a great time camping here. I tent camped can't exactly speak about the rooms. I did visit the lounge after a long hike. The food was good the drinks were... I didn't try them. It was a good time. Nonetheless, if you're ever in the lounge, try the Ruben.

We camped at Starved Rock State Park Campground for the Thanksgiving weekend. When I made reservations, it said the East Loop was closed for the season. When we got there, there was one other camper in the West Loop. The East Loop had about twenty campers in it.The two loops have different characters. The West Loop is wide open. A couple would be hard to back in to. The majority of the East Loop is in the trees, and quite a few of the sites would be hard to back in to.There aren't any trails in the campground area. They save those for the State Park area ?Dumpsters are near the entrance to each loop. Would be nice if they were more towards the middle of the loop. The weirdest thing about this campground is the tire shredders going into the dump station. I get it, they don't want people to ba k out of the dump station, but it's not very wide open, and I could see how it'd be easy to get your rig stuck, and not being able to back out would really limit your iptions on what you could do.The bathrooms could be updated. There are only two shower houses, one in each loop. Each only has two showers, one toilet and one urinal. I can't imagine that's enough in summer when the ampgrounds are full. It'd be great if the shower houses were in the middle of the loop, I stead of at the entrance to each loop.Woke up to 4" of snow on the ground

Came on Thanksgiving day 2023. Roads are horrible, Too many sites are connected with wide paths, so there is no privacy at your site. We have been coming here for 10 years.

Very nice campground. The only limitation is that water fill stations with a suitable hydrant is very limited to basically on hydrant at the entrance to the campground. Other water sources were push button and wouldn’t be capable of filling ones RV fresh water tank. Our sight was nice and shaded and had lots of privacy from our neighbors.

Campground gas two units, East is open during warm month. West is open year around. All sites electric, shower houses. East loop has very wooden sites an open spaces for tall RV.
