Pet Grooming

Bubbles and Brushes for Paws
130 Harrison St, Oak ParkLovely people, excellent service, less expensive than other hoity-toi groomers in Oak Park. I've been going there with my dog Poco for over eight years and have had nothing but a good experience. Be forewarned--they are rightly POPULAR now, so don't think you can get in for a grooming by trying to schedule a week in advance. I typically book the next two upcoming appointments rather than just one so that I'm absolutely sure that the near future, at least, is covered! What's more, after Poco's grooming at Bubbles and Brushes for Paws this past June, I asked them if they'd take a photo--and it's one of my favorite photos EVER of the two of us. So I include it here.

Yuppie Puppy Pet Grooming
1042 Chicago Ave, Oak ParkThe staff at Yuppie Puppy was fantastic. We have a new rescue dog and she’s very skittish, but the crew had her leaning up against them and asking for pets when I picked her up. Their pricing beats competitors and my dog looked all shiny and new. I’m definitely coming back!

Carlson Animal Hospital, A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner
414 Lake St, Oak ParkI can't recommend these wonderful people enough. Dr. Lazar and Dr. Rehm are so kind, thorough and wonderful, the techs are all patient and awesome - special shout out to Jess for being a goofy cat whisperer and Mariel for performing miracles on our 17 year old grumpy pup, and the customer service reps are all really helpful and lovely to talk to. If you need a vet in the Oak Park/Forest Park area, this place is a gem.

Wise Cup
1018 Lake St, Oak ParkI got the masala chai. It was good, but tasted watered down? I don’t think it was sweetened, which is okay because I don’t care for sweetened chai. Something was missing from it. Anyway, the place is very cozy and chill. After I ordered my drink, I went to the restroom. The room was a bit gross. It had a sour smell and the toilet seat had poop bits on it. I think it was that way due to a previous customer, but after an hour it still wasn’t cleaned. The whole time I was there the stench of the bathroom stayed in senses and I couldn’t get the image of the poopy bits on the toilet out of my mind. The bathroom is probably not like that all of the time, I don’t know. This was my first time visiting. I probably won’t come again, but I had a good time reading my book and drinking chai.

Kettlestrings Tavern
800 S Oak Park Ave, Oak ParkEverything is great... just too much TVs. If i come to enjoy outdoor eating, I don't need TV. That would be my only reason for not to visit this KT.

Poor Phil's Bar and Grill
139 S Marion St, Oak ParkI dont usually write reviews but it is not allowing me to respond personally to this Robert that left a review about the hostess. Robert, I happened to be there with my wife at the same time as you and saw exactly what happened. For you and your 3 other companions to berate the 16 year old hostess because she was doing her job and not allowing you to sit at a larger party table is terrible. She told you the bigger reserved table was for larger parties and you immediately went into a drunken tirade. I hope you wake up this morning and realize how awful you and your group were to this poor girl. You owe her an apology. Why do you think its ok to speak to a child that way? Was it worth it to make her cry because you couldn't get the table you wanted? You and your. group spent the better part of your meal talking poorly of this girl who was well within earshot of your conversation. Shameful. I hope you wake up today with a clearer head than you had last night.

One Lake Brewing
1 Lake St, Oak ParkEverything is just great. The food, the beer (try the Cooler by the lake), the service... I mean, if it were not as pricey as it is I would go there every other day. The food and beer is worthy but I'm not a millionaire!

La Notte Ristorante Italiano
1120 Pleasant St, Oak ParkGreat to get back to La Notte after a hiatus of over a year. The food is ALWAYS outstanding! Why then only 4 stars? As delicious as my meal, one of the specials was, there just wasn't much of it or at least as much as I hoped for or expected. Everything is artistic and well presented. Our waitress was very attentive but she had a tendency to mumble or as Seinfeld would say a "low talker". We had to ask her more than once to repeat what she said, likewise the table next to us had to do the same. The ambiance is very inviting and they even featured some live music, a nice treat. Definitely will go back again.

Avenue Ale House
825 S Oak Park Ave, Oak ParkThe food has gotten much better recently. Had the pork tacos, tuna salad and potato skins. All excellent. Hard to justify $16.50 for one neat Buffalo Trace bourbon however. Very quiet-no diners at all at 6PM on a Friday evening.

Q-BBQ Oak Park
124 N Marion St, Oak ParkI came here with my wife for date night and we're immediately disappointed because they were out of ribs which my wife really had her heart set on.
While the food was ok, the service was absolutely phenomenal. Josh, I believe he might be the manager, turned our disappointment in one of the best dining experience in a while, my wife is still talking about him and had me write this review.
Anyways Josh, you were awesome and Maddie I believe, from Idaho, you were equally amazing. Thank you for the great service and hopefully your bosses see this and know that you two are the only reason we'll be back to try to the ribs.

Staff is usually friendly and quick, and everything’s made fresh. Prices are a bit high, but worth it if you want something filling and nutritious. Love their post-workout options!

Animal Care League
1013 Garfield St, Oak ParkLove this place. I'm a volunteer foster dog mom and couldn't be happier with the support I get and the care I see, despite the fact that the shelter is always full and they are perennially short-staffed. It's wonderful to work with so many people whose love for animals shows in their evert move.
