Returns at this location are the most absurd, they make you feel like a thief. The policy is there for a reason but they insist in interrogating as if the company pays them to be arrogant. If there’s a reason why REI Is losing its customer base, this is why.

First experience here, bought some shoes, great experience and the helper today is what the two stars are for. Next experience today at the cash register made me decide not to shop here again and write this post. You could look at me and tell that I am not feeling my best. If you are anyone who can read body language at any level. Seymour, the store associate began to tell me about savings in the co-op, which I politely in the most calm and low tone advised him that I was not interested. I told him, I’ve been to the store before I’m not trying to be rude.. I just don’t have it in me right now I would like to make the purchase and leave as I’m not feeling my best. His reply was “well, you are being rude and you are leaving money on the table as well.” Literally, that’s what he said. Im flabbergasted. As opposed to , hope you feel better, I understand, sorry to hear.. anything that was humanly kind went out of the window. I was as polite as I could’ve been and still met with this response. I’ll be doing my shopping online going forward. Not worth that experience. Thanks to Seymour, REI will see me less.

First time going on a big hiking trip so I stopped at REI for the first time. Genene and Donna were absolutely amazing and very patient with all my questions. I left feeling super satisfied with my experience, I’ll definitely be coming back!

I’m going on an expedition (never done before) and REI is great helping a novice figure out the right things to purchase. Big shout out to Genente in shoes. Wow and unbelievable in a positive way. She helped me pick out shoes, explained why certain styles work well with my feet and not others. Adjusted the size I needed based on my feet and the characteristics of what I needed. Patient kind and so helpful. I have never had someone explain how and why my feet work with various shoes. She is fantastic!!

Their bike repair service is a well-kept secret. Very affordable with excellent techs. While other places were backed up a month, I got a full rebuild back in 5 days.

Great place to be outfitted for all your outdoor adventures. I dropped off my 80s Schwinn and the bike team was very helpful. I also had great help from the show department in picking out Hoka Arahi shoes. The team at Oakbrook Terrace was super helpful getting me ready for my trip

Came into store about a few weeks ago. received very solid advice and quality customer service from man named Tim. Seemed he was the only one in the department and had some other very demanding customer. Some man wearing his backside for a hat picking up a bike complaining about some rotor and brake pads. Piece of work that guy was. Unnecessary complaining, seemed arrogant and entitled. If I could rate this other guy I’d give him one star. Less if it was possible. Better man than me, tim stayed calm and professional. In my day, we didn’t cry about brake pads. You acted like that, someone fixed your face, free of charge.
Very grateful that even though Tim was working very hard with this demanding customer, he made time to assist me as well. Genuinely willing to help, put extra care into helping me and that POS customer. Hard to find good customer service like that these days. Thank you Tim.
