Vermillion River Rafting offers a fun and scenic experience on an under-recognized tributary with beautiful landscapes. The trip takes about three to four hours and features high gradient sections, two minor falls or rapids, and lots of time to watch for bald eagles. Water levels are dependent on weather, so checking by calling ahead is recommended. The trip is best when the water is higher, as shallow sections can be pretty tame. The large rapid is challenging and may require bailing water. The staff is very polite and helpful, providing transportation to drop off cars. The river also offers good fishing and the unexpected treat of carp jumping. It is a highly recommended experience that creates core memories, though some equipment like life vests can have issues. The nearby State Parks and local communities add to the visit.
