I booked a truck through Expedia with a clearly listed pickup time of 4:00 PM. I arrived at 4:45 PM, only to be told that my reservation was supposedly for an earlier time (which is false) and that they could not give me the truck I reserved. Strangely enough, they claimed the truck was being held for a different customer with a 5:30 PM reservation.
This experience felt unfair and discriminatory — I cannot ignore the possibility that my treatment may have been influenced by the fact that I am not Caucasian. To make matters worse, when I tried to renew my reservation, I was refused again even though my booking was valid.
The manager on duty, Crystal, not only denied me service but also refused to provide her last name. This lack of accountability says everything about how poorly this location is run.
This is by far the worst rental experience I have ever had. Hertz should be ashamed to have such a location and management representing their brand. I would strongly caution others to avoid this branch altogether.

This location has improved greatly in the past few months with the hiring of new employees who have much better customer service skills than the young lady who worked there before. The check in and check outs are pretty much seamless if the line isn’t long. David ( I may be getting his name wrong) and James are great employees who are effective at getting customers in and out and on the road. This location had proven responsive to customer feedback and it shows in their perpetual improvement. My last booking had some complications with the quality of the car and they resolved it in a timely and efficient manner. Proving that even when faced with problems concerning customer experience they can retain the customers business and loyalty. I hope to continue to see this level of growth and quality of service from this location!

Was trying to get in touch with this location to change my pick up time. No one answered the phone I tried calling from 11am-1:30pm. I had to call another location in Aurora to help change my time. Then when I show up to the Plainfield location the next day For my pick up, They’re answering the phone each time it rings. Making me wait while they answer their same phone I was on hold, LOL. Staff sucks.

Something has happened. Something has changed at this location. I'm not sure if I came at a bad time, and I will use this service here again. But, on short notice I was given a Jeep Compass when on the 1800 reservation was told a Lexus SUV.
The Jeep Compass has a oil engine message mid way thru, with what I thought was engine hesitation.. when I brought it in that same day that had happened, hours after,, was basically told to just drive it & if it breaks down, they will give me another car.
I'm not certain, but this was the second time, after the first time mentioning why I received a jeep compass instead of a Lexus SUV that the reservationist said that I would get.. so I don't know.
Might go to downers grove with my presidents circle membership next time.. I don't want a car that I was not told to have with a warning indicator lighting up mid way thru my rental to drive until it breaks down. Htm, Thomas W.

I didnt see the sign on the front side and the navigation took me to the wrong side of the building and the lady at the desk gave me attitude when asking on the backside of the building where the store was and she gave me a horrible response and I asked what the attitude was about and then she continues and then declines to give me a car that I rented

I took advantage of the summer sale. The cost to rent an SUV exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed driving a new Chevy with all the bells and whistles.

BEWARE! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION IF YOU EXPECT TO BE TREATED WITH ANY SEMBLANCE OF RESPECT. Read the other reviews. They are accurate. This location gives the absolute worst service I have ever experienced at any rental agency. I have rented vehicles weekly for many years for work travel and I have NEVER been treated as poorly by anyone. When returning my vehicle I was the only person in the office so an agent walked me out to the car to check it in. When I had a question about the vehicle and the agent turned around and walked away because he saw another customer walk into the office. I asked him again and he said he would answer inside and kept walking away!! He said he had to assist a customer as if I hadn’t just paid for a rental and wasn’t a customer?! Absurd to say the least. My husband was also there and asked him to stop and he became rude so I told him I would report this to his manager. He said she was coming in and could assist me. I told them I would record this incident and get it to his manager. Back in the office I asked if he could get his manager and he took the other customer outside to check in their car instead. WOW!! I waited for the manager to come out but she did not. After a few minutes I knocked on the door and she did come out immediately saying “ I don’t appreciate you saying you’re going to record my employee.”. Me and my spouse both asked her to listen to the issue and her response was “ You’re being aggressive, i’m calling the police.”. When I asked her what were we doing that was aggressive and how was asking her to listen aggressive I began recording myself as proof that we were not doing anything remotely aggressive. She said i’m calling the police because I feel threatened. I said that I felt that was racially motivated and her response was to go in the back and close the door while trying to convince the police to come out. I heard her as they asked what was transpiring and she said she didn’t know. I also heard her attempting desperately to convince them she was in some “distress” which they clearly did not believe because she couldn’t give a valid reason.
Sound familiar? Another instance of a woman attempting to leverage her race in a situation where she is in the wrong and has to accommodate or even entertain a person of color, even in a simple matter and as a function of her job duties. She stayed behind those doors for some time trying to convince the police to come which they hadn’t so I asked my spouse what we were waiting for since no one was checking our car in or helping us and we left the keys with another agent and left. I will be reporting this to their corporate office. Whether or not they attend to the matter of abhorrent service here remains to be seen. I will follow this up with an update as well.

The employee who processed the rental had to stop every few seconds to eat his canned sour cream and onion pringles. He did not walk me to the truck. I turn the truck on, need oil change service light appears. Brakes are soft. Rear right tire kept losing air.I had to fill it two times. When I dropped the truck off and asked for a ride they told me it would be about an hour and I could drop the truck off at the auto body shop. The auto body shop would work with Hertz to return it. I started seeing pending charges on my card two days after I returned the truck. I had to work with my insurance co who had to call Hertz three times to finally close out the rental.

Takes an hour+ to rent a car that you’ve already reserved - the gentleman that helped us was at least kind and was trying his best but this establishment needs additional support. Or they need to space out reservation times. Don’t allow people to book an 8 am reservation if you don’t have the adequate staffing to support people in under an hour.

Worst place to rent, avoid it if you can. They don't have the car you reserved, and they don't have better cars to provide neither. The personal is as bad as the selection of cars they have available. Just look for another alternative, you will save time and patience.
Was my bad to take it even with all the bad reviews, they didn't exaggerate.

Absolutely awful customer experience. Waited 50+ minutes to PICK UP a car with a reservation while staff was having coffee and chatting in the back. I was told cars weren’t ready and needed to be washed and had no option but waiting. Prior times I have been wrongly charged and had to dispute. Don’t give yourself a headache by coming here.

After 25 minutes of waiting a person enters from outside (employee) and was super rude says no cars for today. If there are no cars then why take reservations on the website. Why was I not informed about cars available. Wasted my time and energy on this.
At least I expected good customer service.
