STORY (stop here):
I rolled in half past 11am. Check engine light was NOT a suggestion THIS time. Listen, I have a 2016 Silverado V6. This black beauty has 221k on the dash. What was the issue you might ask? Well, this truck has NEVER had the spark plugs changed. NEVER! If the devil was driving through hell, he’d make it in this Silverado.
I stroll in after a 2 day bender on the road. We’re a day behind. Why? Well, the not-so-superior tire on the Superior (model) family travel trailer blew clean off in rush hour traffic. Somehow, AT THE SAME TIME, I put it in park after the blowout, the ol black beauty (the Silverado) decides it’s got no gunk in the frunk. Oil is LOW. Takes 3 quarts and a solid and well utilized four way (tire changer) to get us back on the road.
A short distance further and rather impressive vocals (and in-place footwork) to Alan Jackson’s Good Time comes THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ARE YOU FREAKING JOKING. Some choice words and one overpriced Loves RV spot later…we are on the road. Life is good. Black beauty had a break. The curb king brazed a few on the first corner but otherwise, no issues. 10 miles later…guess what…not the check engine light. kidding. IT WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!! YAY!! (Not yay)
I make it 20 minutes down the road to THIS ORILEYS. North bound and down, I strolled in. These fellas did the equivalent of Dolly Parton to those sweet kids that can’t read and offered their own mechanical library of ratchets, extensions, and sockets to this very author. They sold me the spark plugs. When a wire broke changing it, they didn’t have the product in store. They knew it was TIME SENSITIVE and I couldn’t wait a couple hours to get it from another Orileys. They quickly called around, located wires, and told me directions to get it nearby. I won’t say where they called, but they made it work and they simply didn’t have to go that far. But they did. And it was appreciated!
Do yourself a favor. Go here. Yap. High five these guys and tell them great job for being so great.
