Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens is situated along the banks of the Rock River. It is the third largest conservatory in Illinois, featuring an 11,000-square-foot tropical plant exhibition area with water features, ponds, streams, seating areas, and sculptures. The beauty continues outdoors with the Eclipse Lagoon, fountains, a waterfall, a pedestrian bridge, and walkways connecting to the Sinnissippi Rose Garden.
The facility is a peaceful, relaxing, and very photogenic space. It is lush and packed with tropical plants, trees, and flowers. The Gardens are gorgeous in the summer, with roses holding on into the fall. It is a great spot for a perfect little stroll, with many nooks and crannies to explore. Seasonal displays, like the Aglow Holiday lights or garden train exhibit with miniature landmarks, are fantastic and fill visitors with joy. While parking can be difficult, it is a beautiful space for a walk and a great stop when in Rockford.
