My daughter and father went to Hone depot bought a 1000 feet of carpet. Brought it home and wasn't even 200 feet. After returning the carpet and getting a different carpet as their was not any more available of the type we purchased originally the Coach in the carpet department was very obnoxious. I came with my daughter to do the return and she treated us like we could not afford the carpet we were purchasing and didn't know exactly what we wanted. I will never buy carpet from Home Depot again with the service they showed me and my daughter this evening. I would have expected better service from a lady with a coaching position for the carpet department. I have to leave one star but this deserves no stars.

As a former employee of Home Depot, most of the people you work with are great. I worked during store hours and went into overnights before my shift was up. Things started off great in my section which was lumber and I enjoyed my manager there. I clocked in and just went straight to work. Then my phone would vanish for lumber when it should be brought to me as the one and only lumber associate would be leaving soon. That never happened, I would be searching for the phone and pinging it thru our computer system, and that would stop me from helping customers see what inventory we had or if we even had it anymore somewhere in the store. I always went way above of my job title and even helped other customers out of my area as you would think that is part of your job. I was told to literally word for word by the ASM to pawn off customers to someone else. Trying to find a worker when you are there if you have a question is almost impossible or they vanish on you. I would be the one to walk down the center isle while I was going to lumber and see if I seen anyone looking around as that is a tell tale sign of needing help. It always was and I was able to help them and they were thankful I stopped. I told my manager I will not pawn a customer off and have them wait when there is not enough staff, I did that once and that customer was never helped until I came back to help them. Working after the store is closed is another issue, you are left with the morning, afternoon employees messes that they don't clean up and leave 2x6x10' and even 12's on the floor, saw dust all over, bags of concrete torn open and on the floor. Trip hazards for employees and especially for customers non the less in lumber. We have rebar, no lumber is pushed back for safety. I would have to work 2 to 3 hours past my shift to make sure everything was put away like returns, since i was the only one down there I had to find a way to get 4x8 sheets of plywood out away myself safely when it could have gotten done when I first arrived at work when we had two people. Instead the other employee wanted to waste his time on the forklift which takes me away from doing anything else as you have to be the eye on safety guiding them, until the forklift is shut off. When you work at 6am the next day, and only get 2.5 hours of sleep it's not safe period for my primary job or at HD. I would work from 7 to 1 was my schedule, I wouldn't leave until 3am. I would work, get home, shower and take care of my two kids for a bit while my wife was still working, then maybe get something to eat. Then go to HD and work. Management knew what I needed for hours, and I agreed upon 7-11, that only lasted 2 weeks. Then it went from 7-1am then 7-3am. I asked to speak to the ASM and she never had time to listen to a 5 minute conversation. Even with this I didn't try anymore and just focused on my job and finished it every night along with being the janitor for the 1/4 of the store since Windows and doors was a mess, drywall was a mess, ladders were a mess and the trash was always left unattended with wood hanging out of the garbage back at lumber. I was the only one to take it out from when I emptied the night before. After all of this, I had a appt for a check up at the Dr, he decided to lessen the dose of a med I was on and I was told by him along with a note by him to not operate a forklift or the saws for 4 days to make sure the decrease wouldn't affect me negatively. After I told the manager on my way back, I was told a note doesn't do anything for me and I don't care about a note. You have to run that equipment. I was then told to not come into work that day, and that the store manager would call me, that never happened. I went into the store and wrote a note for him and never heard a word back. The overnight manager was awesome as well as the other 3 people we had. I always wondered why we had people leaving all the time, and them telling me they are going to quit. Now I know why, they don't listen to their employees no matter the conce

i don't really have anything good to say about this business.i dropped down almost 8000 grand on appliances with this store.the delivery truck driver dropped off the appliances at the curb and just left them there.the guys that was remodeling my house ran out to ask if he was going to dolly the appliances in the house.he said "no i don't do that"he said if i hurt my back i could sue.he said he didn't work for home depot---that they sub out the work.then he just drove off.i went up to home depot and raised the issue.talked to a guy by the name off ed.waste of time--just shrugged his shoulders .his words"what do you want from me" i asked him if a 80 year old woman can handle appliances at the curb---no answer.its a clown show in rockford---if you want ge appliances and want them from home depot---you better have a strong back.

Updated review from my 3/27/2020 visit: Still updating our home. Finally we've come to the living room. When it was time to paint, the color didn't look right and they said bring it back and they'd fix it. Next color, still not right! (it was too light and I just needed it a little darker) I call the paint department (thank goodness it's Meg) and she tells me to bring it up and we'll see what we can do. I walk in to see a line of people. (I'm assuming everyone is hating their home now that they have to stay in them) Meg has phoned a friend from the plumbing department to help her out. (Sabrina) They're running around, things are breaking/ malfunctioning, and the line is still growing! (this is about a half an hour before closing.) When I reached my turn, Meg took my paint, 2 gallons, and we played with the color until it was exactly what I wanted. There was maybe 10 people in line, but it felt as though I had her undivided attention. She was personable, positive, and patient. Sabrina kept it light and comical while people waited by jokingly reminding them about the 6 ft rule and Meg offered to sing karaoke to them. At the end, when I received my new color, she said if I didn't love it to bring it back again. (Update on that-it's perfect!) That dynamic duo rocked. Great attitudes and a great experience from the paint department yet again! (We love everyone we have dealt with at The Home Depot!)

Home Depot sold me a security door without the screws. I purchased additional wood to help support the door. I paid $35 for Home Depot to come out and measure the door and see what additional items would be needed. The installer could not make up his mind as to what size wood would be needed. He showed up late to the scheduled appointment. I had to return to Home Depot 3 times to keep paying on the door because I was told I could pay for the install at the time of the installation then that changed. I called almost every other day to see when the installation would be done, the phone rep. tells me that they gave my order away to an out of town sub-contractor, which caused me to be on a very long waiting list. Then the same person who original measured the door, was the same person who was called to install the door. The man comes out for the 2nd time without having any supplies to put the door up. What person in their right frame of mind works as an installer and doesn't have the tools or supplies to do the job? Between my 3 times going back and forth to Home Depot and the installer's 3 times trying to put just one door on is still not done after waiting over 4 weeks for the job to be completed. At this rate, Home Depot will never again in this lifetime get any more of my business. This company is way too incompetent for me.

Last November I decided it was time to replace my kitchen counter tops with granite. So I went to my first stop for most things it seems; The Home Depot on State st. I found a terrific top, white with black/brownish squiggles and bought it. It turns out that the granite was actually fabricated in Elk Grove Village, Il. which I went to to see the slab in person. The Slab was then sent to a company in Jefferson, Wi. to cut the slab to fit after someone from the company came out to my house to get the exact measurements. After that I was told it would be a week or so for the installation (so far so good). So the installation team showed up on time on the appointed day and began their work. It all went swimmingly until they were finished and the head installer mentioned that the was a slight bow in the slab which caused one end to stick up about 3/4 of an inch. This was underneath and hardly noticeable and I was ready for it to be over and frankly did not pay all that much attention, after all, it was less than an inch. Well later - after they had left and I had more time to really look at the slab it became increasingly apparent that 3/4 of an inch was considerable on something was supposed to be perfectly flat (see picture). I called the Depot and explained my situation and they sent the store asst. mgr., a guy named Chris, and the installers cam e along also. It was beyond doubt that the slab was bowed. A marble set on one end would take off and roll to the other end and anyone could see the gap. A number of less than stellar reasons/excuses were made but in the end I had to ask - as you gentle reader would have done - would you (the manager etc.) settle for this situation with a 5 thousand dollar slab of granite? At this point Chris said that what they could do is install a small piece of trim all around the underside of the slab , which would really not be noticeable once painted to match the cabinets. I am not totally unreasonable and knew that they would/could not remove the slab and replace it not did I expect them to return my payment so I said that if the trim worked out I would settle for that. But this is where the real fun began, I never saw or heard from Chris again until after a couple of weeks I went back to the Depot and asked to see him. After a few excuses he took me to see one of their employees that worked in the lumber dept. named Dave. He said that Dave would do the work on the companies clock and we even picked out the trim molding strip for the work. Well after making sure that they had my name and number I went home, looked at my gap, and waited for the phone to ring. Nada, went back again and talked to Dave in lumber and he said yes he had my number and would call soon but was currently awfully busy. Went back again to talk to Chris then again nothing, went back again and talked to the manager this time, a guy named Ed, who made a mouthful of promises and again took my name and number and promised to call ASAP. Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, I still have not heard from anyone except for the second time I went back to talk to Dave when he just said " I am not coming to your house" period. When asked why he simply, and rudely, said to ask Ed. At this point I would never believe asst. mgr. Chris or the manager Ed about anything. Both either intentionally lying or frankly just dumb, take your pick.

I ordered a storm door. In stock but I had to wait for someone to measure the area for it to be installed. That was done a week later. Now I am told have to wait another 4-5 weeks for installation. I never would have bought the door here if I had known that. I was told at the time of purchase that it would within a week. I found someone else to install it tomorrow! Not happy with HD.

I went to Home Depot's mill work department and a woman spotting for a forklift driver stopped to help me. They both showed me what I needed and said that they could cut it to size for me. I had gone to your 11% competitor who would not even acknowledge me and started to help a man first even though I was ahead in line. When I did get help the competitor said they did not cut wood. However, Home Depot, you have won my business with your great customer service. Even when I checked out at Home Depot the cashier was helpful and friendly. Being a woman building and fixing stuff is intimidating to me. Therefore, I much prefer a store that is more than willing to help someone out. Bonus Home Depot will cut to size if you buy it there.

I order a lot online and pickup in store at the pro desk. Always ready when I get there and the convenience is great. In addition, ordering online allows for a wider selection because you have the opportunity to shop from all Home Depot locations and shipped to yours for free.

All friendly and helpful sales associates. As with any retail store some are more knowledgable than others. 99 % of the time I find exactly what I'm looking for. I do take the time to go online to check inventory and in-store location, saves time for those of us who don't consider shopping a social occasion.

The attendant at the pro desk one guy I am a professional builder treated me like ADI Y person. I asked in the difference between 2 products any point at me down the aisle. I ask the lumber person do you have any T1 11. He said no. He moved us forklift I did away and guess what was on next to M T1 11 on a rack. But don't worry the Pro desk at menards was no better. I rate it one star in rating it should be a negative 3

The major problem in big box stores, we are dumb but expect help and respect. I was told by my father you go to the store three times, first time to get what you think you need, second to get what you should have had, third to return what you don't need. My kitchen sink began to leak. We bought a replacement, first mistake. Took out the old faucet, second mistake new had one less pipe connector. Asked to have the plumbing guys help, third mistake called the store from inside the store. Plumbing guy told me which isle it would be in. I was in that isle and asked for his help. He insisted the faucet I bought was right. I insisted had no connection for the sprinkler. Diagram on box had none, three other boxes had none. Plumbing guy "if it has a picture on the box its in the box". Me "please open the box" two boxes , no connector. Opened another, yes a connector. I headed for the register with the right faucet. Halfway down the isle I hear a muttered sentence with two word spoken clearly "DUMB BASTARD". Asked for the supervisor at the register. Explained my three trip story and added the new words to the story.

I had ordered two storm doors for my house in September 2018. When they arrived at the store, one of them was damaged and the other had the opening on the wrong side. To make a long story short, it is now March and I STILL DON'T HAVE THE SECOND DOOR INSTALLED. 6 MONTHS LATER!!!! They offered a $50 discount, which is just a joke considering what they put me through! I for one will no longer do business with Home Depot.

I've been to this store many times, and I'm always blown away with how all of the team members are always consistently a step-above when it comes to friendliness, helpfulness and customer service. I've been to many a Home Depot in this country and I've never experienced such consistently helpful service as I have at the Rockford store. Yesterday alone, I interacted with five different team members (carpeting/tools/2 in outdoor tools/cashier), all a step above and extremely helpful. From the friendly cashier to more involved processes (like working with installation set up and teams), across the board, there's something very special about this store.
