Cherryvale Mall – A Shadow of Its Former Self
★★★☆☆
Cherryvale Mall in Rockford, Illinois, used to be the go-to spot for shopping, entertainment, and a bit of socializing, but lately, it’s been feeling like a shadow of its former self. While it still offers a range of stores and some nostalgic vibes, the overall experience has started to deteriorate over time.
The mall’s location and layout remain strong, and it still houses a few popular retailers, making it a decent spot for a quick trip. However, the upkeep seems to be slipping. Many areas feel outdated, and some parts of the mall appear a bit run down. The once vibrant atmosphere has been replaced by empty storefronts, with a noticeable lack of foot traffic. Even the food court, once buzzing with energy, now seems a bit lackluster.
Cherryvale is far from a terrible place—it’s still a convenient spot if you need to pick up essentials or take a stroll, but it’s no longer the lively shopping center it once was. Hopefully, with some renovations and new management, the mall can regain its charm and vitality. For now, though, it’s just an average place to shop—nothing more, nothing less.

Love going here as I have shopped in many stores here except a few minor ones that I have no interest in going into them

The Santa Claus this year 2024 did not smile in any of the pictures with my grandchildren. With the prices the parents and grandparents pay for photos, this is not ok! If he refuses to smile, hire someone different.

Went to Macy’s to return a vest, lady at counter was helpful. Went to the food court Chinese food was awful gross 🤮. Steak tacos & al pastor were also not good.
The play area was SUPER FILTHY, someone needs to daily, needs to clean that carpet. Decided to go to Target for clothes. Not any good stores.

I feel like Cherry Valley Mall has really died out in the past few years. There are only a couple of good stores left, like Hollister's and H&M, but you can go to other towns and find those stores as well. I only go to the mall just to do something, and I feel like a lot of the stores are not that interesting. There's a shoe store and a store for random clothing. I do like the Barnes & Noble inside; it's probably the only nice thing about the mall. I think that since COVID, the mall has really decreased in quality. Also, the security will kick you out because they discriminate against younger people.
