Isle a la Cache Museum is an educational and enjoyable destination, particularly for those interested in Native American and French fur trader history. The museum features several interactive exhibits for children, including displays of Illinois native reptiles and an indoor area for observing busy bird feeders. It hosts frequent living history programs, making each visit unique. Although relatively small, the museum provides a comprehensive portrayal of local history through well-organized exhibits that trace the development of the fur trade. Visitors of all ages can learn and engage with the material. The surrounding area includes scenic trails that offer a brief walk to the water, showcasing beaver carvings on tree trunks. A large covered pavilion is available for family picnics, and there is ample parking on-site. Families can also enjoy a library with toys, puzzles, and books for children. Whether visitors are seeking a peaceful walk along the Des Plaines River or an informative experience about the area's history, Isle a la Cache Museum is a worthwhile stop for everyone.
Great exhibits inside and out. History of the Midwest/Great Lakes that predates the United States.

Took my 10 month here for a special event and ended up playing in the museum the whole time! He loved the museum, but had a great time playing with the toys in the library. There were puzzles and books galore. We will be back here again soon to walk the trails and maybe play in the library again.
