“I attended Institute Day for teachers from about 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. It was well organized with friendly staff, good coffee, healthy breakfast and snacks, and soda, and an impressive amphitheater.”

“I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars.The rooms are dark and the lighting is poor. Some newly painted white walls would do wonders for the rooms. The bathtub was dirty and the base is shaped like a curved bowl instead of being flat. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with a pregnant woman or older person using it. The carpet in the room seemed new so that was great. The king bed suite is a California king, seemingly. It was more narrow than our king bed at home and more narrow than the king bed we stayed in Chicago the night before. Normally not a big deal but we brought our kid and figured we’d all just sleep in the same bed…but we didn’t fit. We could also very easily hear footsteps above us and somehow below us.Overall there aren’t many hotel options nearby so I might still choose it depending on your destination. Next time we go to the area we will try a different hotel as the room was uncomfortable to hang out in, sleep was poor, and shower made me extra cautious.”

“Went to St. Charles to watch a Chicago Steele hockey game... and was VERY happy we stayed the night at the Baker. Very lovely hotel with a ton of history. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk was SUPER nice and accommodating, and the price for the room was very reasonable.(The gym room was closed for some reason, which made me sad... but took a long walk by the river, so that was good).Highly recommend staying at the Baker... and located right in the heart of everything, and surrounded by good restaurants.”
