I went to AutoZone for a cap. I gave them my license plate and VIN…. but they couldn’t find my vehicle in their system. They asked for my make and model, which I gave, then if it was a 4 or 6 cylinder. I was pretty sure it was 6 but wasn’t definite. When I said I didn’t know, the guy helping me made a comment I considered rude: “Usually people know that information.” I didn’t feel comfortable guessing 6 if I wasn’t sure.
I went back to my Jeep to check, but couldn’t find anything to confirm it. By the time I came back, it was another guy helping me. When I returned and said 6, they found a cap matching the illustration on mine, so it was 6 cylinder. The radiator cap I needed was over $100 and wasn’t in stock at AutoZone… He had a different cap in hand and said I could get that one, but I didn’t want to buy a cap that didn’t match mine. When I asked the difference, he said…. I don’t know, they’re both caps……

Anyways, I didn’t buy anything and went to O’Reilly.
Oscar at O’Reilly was helpful from the start. He has a Jeep too, so from personal knowledge, he knew it was most likely a 6 cylinder. Their system actually worked, and he confirmed it for me … plus, to double-check, he even came outside to look at it. I didn’t expect him to do that, so when I noticed O’Reilly went the extra mile while AutoZone didn’t … especially after I had to go outside several times to get my VIN and figure out the cylinder count … I really appreciated it. Oscar suggested checking it right away and explained to me why I most likely needed a new cap. He seemed very knowledgeable. Plus, the exact cap my auto shop said I needed was $55 cheaper in O’Reilly .
Oscar was great … don’t waste your time or money at AutoZone in Hickory Hills... Go to O’Reilly!”
“My wife and I were traveling from Connecticut heading north on 57 when a piece of the undercarriage in front came loose and was flapping making all kinds of noise. A bolt was missing, and parts were broken off from the front bumper underneath.
I saw the O'Reilly's from the highway and decided to see if maybe I could fix it with duct tape or something.
Tommy was at the counter, and I explained the situation and he recommended twist ties and gave me a couple of good tips.
So, Tommy. Your advice was perfect. The twist ties endured over 900 miles of highway driving since we were there Friday the 20th. We returned home Monday night without any further issues.

“My mother went to the O’Reilly’s in Chicago Heights today regarding an issue that she has been having with her car. Specifically, her engine light was on, and she needed some assistance with the next steps. I don’t have the name of the woman who assisted her, but she was extremely helpful. My mom was able to get her car fixed. Everything is working properly. She purchased a part from O’Reillys and it was cheaper than what a competitor was telling her. So it was just better service overall. And I just want to thank the employee there that helped my mom today. I am extremely grateful.”

“I had an outstanding experience at the Batteries Plus in Tinley Park thanks to Mike. From the moment I walked into the store, he was extremely professional, respectful, and genuinely helpful.
I came in looking for APU batteries for my semi-truck, and Mike really knew his stuff. He answered every question I had thoroughly and clearly. What stood out the most was that if he didn’t immediately know an answer, he didn’t guess or just tell me anything — he took the time to look it up and make sure I got the correct information. That level of honesty and attention to detail is rare.
On top of that, when I ran into an issue where one of my battery wires wouldn’t quite reach the terminal, Mike didn’t hesitate to walk outside to my truck and assist me directly with the installation.
