125 S 4th St, VandaliaWe've eaten at The Copper Penny several times now, and every visit has been excellent. We've tried both the burgers and the sandwiches, and everything we've ordered has been fresh, flavorful, and well prepared.
The waitstaff deserves special recognition. Everyone we've encountered has been friendly, personable, and genuinely welcoming. It's the kind of place where you feel appreciated as a customer.
One thing we really enjoy is the atmosphere. It's never overwhelmingly crowded at lunchtime, but it's always busy enough to tell you that a lot of people have discovered what a great restaurant this is. There's a comfortable, relaxed feel that makes it easy to enjoy a meal and good conversation.
Restaurants succeed when they consistently do the little things right, and The Copper Penny clearly does. Great food, great service, and a welcoming environment. It's easy to see why they have so many loyal customers. Highly recommended.

RANCHO NUEVO
1433 N 5th St, VandaliaRancho Nuevo has become one of our favorite places to eat in Vandalia. I'm a big fan of their al pastor, and I almost always order it as a quesadilla. It's consistently delicious every time.
That said, everything we've tried on the menu has been fantastic. The ingredients always taste fresh, the portions are generous, and the service has been great. Their salsa deserves a special mention too—it's fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made every single visit.
If you're looking for Americsn-style Mexican food in the area, Rancho Nuevo is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

1611 Veterans Ave, VandaliaGet here. Get any dish with pork. The pork chalupas are out of this world. Ive been here a dozen times over the years for both lunch and dinner. Margaritas are powerful - Get the Grande. Pictured are the chalupas, rice & beans, and extras. All ingredients are so fresh.... lettuce, tomato, guacamole.... just get here.

Second Chance Animal Shelter of Fayette County
1332 N 1150 St, VandaliaI'm a newer volunteer to the rescue. The staff is great and I am so glad to have a place like this close. The dogs are well taken care of and the have helped lots of dogs. Adopt, don't shop and go get you a new furry friend.
Update: I have now been volunteering for about a year and I still love everyone here and love working with the dogs. They do a great job.
