This is a review on Ace Hardwares Heating department, which I would recommend no one use this location for their heating maintenance. We live in an apartment and our heater stopped working entirely, our landlord dealt with them for the most part, but please read this whole post for the full story. Noel came to inspect the heater quick enough but determined that an essential part needed to be replaced for the heater to work, but they did not have it in stock, so it had to be ordered. This part took over a week to arrive, mind you, this was in November so 30 degrees was the average temperature at this time, and strongly think that they should have taken it upon themselves to expedite the shipping. Finally, the part came in and he promptly came to replace it, and the heater worked perfectly fine thereafter; however, Noel said that another part needed to be replaced, but did not tell me or my landlord what else needed to be replaced. After about two weeks Noel shows up unexpectedly, neither me nor my landlord knew he was coming, and again our heater was working perfectly fine after his last visit. In the process of replacing this, what I deem unnecessary part, he broke the part that he replaced last time. So, our heater is broken once again, and it is currently 23 degrees as I am writing this. He claims he overnighted the part, but that was two days ago now. When I called to inquire about the delay, the only answer I got from the gentlemen handling the phones was, "Noel is a very busy guy."

Big store. Don't be afraid to ask where things are to avoid wandering aimlessly, even though the aisles are fairly well labeled. Prices reasonable. Salesman there when I arrived knew exactly what I needed and had good recommendations to fix problems later down the road as well.

Stopped in for a propane refill. The refill area is in back of the building so you have to walk clear to the front entrance to get help. After waiting a few minutes they informed me they had ran out of propane a couple days prior. It would have been nice if a sign was posted in back where you initially unload for a refill. Ended up going to Menards for a faster cheaper 30lb bottle refill.

Very smart at what you need. You can show them a part and they know where it came off of.

I’ve lived in Washington for 7 years. I always try to shop local. But as of today I will no longer shop at Ace. Every time I’ve went into the store you can’t find an employee to even check you out, I had 2 sheets of plexi glass cut and the lady cut them both wrong. I mentioned it to her before leaving the store she said “this is the best I can do , so if it doesn’t work bring it back tomorrow.” I explained to her that I had an exposed window to my house open and needed it asap. She more or less told me “oh well.” I take both pieces back to get them fixed and Knowbody is in the store to cut it. Keep in mind I’ve spent almost $40 on 2 sheets of placing glass. I never got a sorry. Never got any type of apology at all. The lady in the “office” said “refund it” and that’s it. Washington is such a great place to love and everyone for the most part is friendly. But this business gives our town a horrible name. They should be ashamed of themselves. Not to mention the prices are insane! Save yourself the trouble and don’t shop at Ace in Washington. The employees seem miserable!!!! The original owners sold it. But kept the Kimpling Ace name. If I was them I would recommend my name being taken off. What a trashy business.

Typical small town Ace store. They have many things and are generally able to help. Their high prices and year long ignoring of health guidelines generally keep me away. Thankfully their corporate branding offices mandated mask wearing, something I’ve even seen people do there.Bottom line, if you only need one of something right now and it isn’t after 6pm, check them out.
