“Great place for Subaru engines!
I have been using JDM Engines Chicago for the last five or so years, buying EJ20x and EJ20y engines for various Subaru WRX and STI projects.
I always show up with a bag of tools and a leakdown tester. The owner is accomodating and allows me to inspect the engines, remove the spark plugs, and use his compressor for my leakdown tester. I check every engine I buy. Regardless of who you are buying from, how good the engines look or where they come from, you are buying a used engine that came from a junk yard from another country. If you don't check it out, you don't know, and then it is on you for not doing the due diligence. In all times I went to buy engines over the years, there was one questionable one that had poor leakdown on one cylinder. I told the owner I would rather not take it and to bring me another engine to inspect. The second engine was perfect and the car ran great with it.”
“A heartfelt thank you to AutoZone in Wood Dale for their wonderful help with my battery replacement! I was at Target just across the street when my car suddenly wouldn't start, and I felt a bit lost because I couldn't fix it myself without the proper tools. The store manager really went out of his way to help-he listened carefully to my situation, he came over to where my car was and checked it, and confirmed it was indeed the battery. He quickly took care of everything at his store as soon as he was able to get my car back on the road. “I brought Tim my 2001 Harley Nighttrain with a gash on the gas tank. Something fell off a shelf in my garage. I was horrified. Tim was very confident that he could get in back in shape. I picked it up today, sooner than he promised, and the gas tank is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!! I am a perfectionist with my motorcycles and I couldn't be happier. Great job Tim!!!! I'll be back.
