“I was at this hotel for valentines day. the receptionist was extremely helpful and kind I believe her name was Rose. I was able to see how well she managed a long line of guests all by her poor self. what did intrigue me was the fact that it seemed like she had no where to sit. as a prior hotel employee, I know how exhausting it can be to stand all day while doing all of this hard work, ESPECIALLY when you do it all alone.

“This place is a gem! It may still be a bit of a diamond in the rough, but new ownership is really making an effort at improving the hotel.

We stayed a night in one of the lakeview balcony suites, it was a good value for the price. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated, but nothing was bad by any means. As far as I know the pool still hasn't been restored, that will be huge added amenity once opened.

The hotel beach had to be restored and now has erosion control in place, the sand there was clearly brought in but most people prefer that sandy beach.

If you prefer a natural beach with rocks mixed in just go north or south of the hotel beach and you'll find pristine natural lakeshore. There are no other buildings in the area for a very long stretch in either direction so it is very quiet and peaceful off-season. In the Summer, there are plenty of people on the beach, but there is certainly enough room for everyone to spread out.

There are also miles of trails to walk or hike through the natural park areas.

Also Nolan's, the restaurant in the hotel is worth checking out. The prices are a little high in my opinion, but still worth it. If you want to splurge a litte, I would definitely recommend it. The mixed drinks were delicious and the food was of high quality.
