“Large family CG and we'll maintained. Love proximity to beach and the bike trails. The defunct power plant to the north of the beach is a bit of an eyesore. Despite that a great place to make some family memories on a weekend.Update August 2019. The powerplant is still there, but the ugly imposing building that used to loom over the state park has been torn down! Looks way better now!”

“5 stars all for one person.Noah did story time with kids and he was absolutely amazing. I will come.back again just so my kids can see his story time. On top of that, someone spilled their drink during the show and immediately following the show, Noah came over and cleaned it up. He seems like a great employee who deserves the highest raise that you offer.”

“We stayed here for two nights as part of a family reunion. This is a fairly standard, mid-level hotel, that's mostly clean and in a convenient area for food and services. The halls are big and the rooms seemed modestly updated with comfortable beds and lots of pillows. they had good breakfast options in morning a little bit for everybody preference. The real bright spot of this place is the service and staff. The attitude and helpfulness of the staff (especially at the front desk) totally makes you forget about any minor problems with the facility. If we are ever in the area again, I will definitely return to this hotel.Rooms: comfortable bed, modestly updatedFood & drinks: bar on property, good breakfast options in morning”

“I recently had the pleasure of staying at the TownePlace Suites and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, Ian at the front desk greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. His friendly and professional demeanor set the tone for the rest of my stay. The hotel itself was clean, modern, and well-maintained. My room was spacious and comfortable, equipped with all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was cozy, and I had a great night's sleep every night. The breakfast offered at the hotel was delicious and had a good variety of options to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit and the made-to-order omelettes. The dining area was clean and inviting, and the staff made sure everything was well-stocked and attended to.What impressed me the most was the exceptional level of service provided by the entire staff, but especially Ian. He went above and beyond to ensure that all my needs were met and that I had a pleasant stay. Whether it was providing recommendations for local attractions or addressing any concerns I had, Ian was always attentive and helpful.Overall, I highly recommend the TownePlace Suites, thanks in large part to the wonderful experience I had with Ian at the front desk. His professionalism, friendliness, and dedication to excellent customer service truly made my stay memorable. I look forward to returning to this hotel in the future.”

“A 1st timer to this specific Marriott Hotel. Stayed here from March 12-15, 2024, to attend a Navy Boot Camp Graduation ceremony. Great service at the Front Desk! Room was a little smaller than expected even with a King Size Bed in there. Sink water was hecka murky for some odd reason! And the water itself was so slow coming out of the faucet and shower! The Cable TV didn't have that many channels on it at all. Didn't get a chance to go to the Fitness Center or Pool during the stay. Maybe next time if around the area. A lot of different places to eat at, however, most of the sit-down restaurants are pricey and portions are small. Fast food joints like Raising Cane's is there, a Hibachi Buffet and others. And stores such as Walmart, Marshalls and Target are around the hotel, too. The Gurnee Outlet Mall is nearby as well...”

“We had a very comfortable and quiet stay. The front desk agent at check in was friendly and efficient. Room was a little old, but otherwise very clean. Location was good, close to the base and a short drive to local restaurants. Unfortunately, we left a couple of things behind but thankfully the staff turned them in and the manager, Mike, was quick to respond in helping to get the items sent back to us.”

“This was an amazing hotel stay. The hotel is nice even though it's an older building and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful other then one lady i believe her name was Audry who wouldn't get us towels and stated we had to wait on house keeping (we don't have house keeping come in during our stays any where). Even though other the staff members didn't mind getting them at any time. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely stay at this location.Rooms: Rooms are niceNearby activities: Six flags is in walking distanceWalkability: Restaurants including Golden Corral and stores are in walking distance”

“We stayed here for 5 nights to attend for my son’s Navy boot camp graduation. Ann at the front desk was very accommodating! Thank you Ann and to the rest of the staff for the great customer service! The hotel offered free breakfast and we enjoyed it; they maintained the cleanliness of the dining area. They also have free shuttle to take you to the graduation and back to the hotel. There are restaurants, fast foods and Walmart with only walking distance. Bowlero bowling alley is only few steps from the hotel. The hotel also has a nice pool and work out area, they maintained the cleanliness as well. My son really enjoyed using their workout area. We had queen suite, it’s nice and clean, we got good service from the house keepers. Our room was nice, clean and tidy every time we got back to hotel after our long day of sightseeing in Chicago. We had great time staying in this hotel! Highly recommended to those who are looking for a place to stay near Navy Training Command.Rooms: We had queen suite room. It was nice and clean. The housekeeping maintained the cleanliness of our room. We felt warm and cozy in our room as we stayed their on November so it’s chilly outside.Nearby activities: Bowlero bowling alley is only few steps from the hotel, we had so fun there that we stayed playing until they closed and just walked back to the hotel.Safety: It was nice and quiet. We felt safe during our stay. We only see guests and their staff who comes and goes from the hotel. They have quite enough area for their parking space. We didn’t rent a car but if you do, in my opinion, rest assured that the rental car would be safe too. There’s a lot of empty spaces in their parking lot as most of the people are taking Uber and Taxi.Walkability: There are fast foods, restaurants, and stores like Walmart with only walking distance.Food & drinks: They have free breakfast and we enjoyed it! They have good and nutritious food to select from.Noteworthy details: Great customer service!”

“We stayed at this hotel for our sons boot camp graduation. We couldn't beat the price and how close it was to our sons graduation. Free shuttle ride to and from the graduation,so that helped out a lot! Front desk person had alot of knowledge for the graduation. Hotel people also made a huge banner for the navy graduation. I thought that was super cool of them.Super helpful. Only thing is that the bed was torture! Super hard! Like sleeping on rocks. Every time you move you can hear the springs. My husband and I didn't sleep too well on the mattress. Other than that we had a good time!?Food & drinks: Checkers in the same parking lot as red roof inn. You got Wendy's next door, gas st.Burger King across the street. “Checked in around 8pm at night without a reservation since we were traveling from PA and nobody else had a room. I was surprised, decent room for $85. Sheets were clean, no bugs, no funny smells. Very outdated , some stains on carpet but it’s an older place. Bed wasn’t bad either. Good place for a quick rest. Don’t expect anything fancy!”

“I was scared at first after reading some of the reviews but we had a great stay. My husbands job brought us to the area so we stayed a few months. They have a laundry room which was great 2.50 a load and very clean. It’s more of a long stay hotel, a lot of people actually live there and are very friendly. Love that all the rooms have full size refrigerators and a microwave as well as a 2 burner s and a sink. They have a towel service also unless you do not mind doing your own laundry. The manager of this location is amazing and very helpful and always there.Rooms: Our room was very cleanSafety: No safety issues at all.”

“Stayed here for the Ren Faire. Place is good for what it is. If you stay bring a pillow. Theirs aren't great. AC is great. Bed is average. Bath in room was nice and water is warm. Cable works. It's a great room for the price. Hallways smells like smoke and the hallways are a little sketch. For the price it's safe and clean. No bugs. Stayed for 3 days.”
