The Bone Yard Pet Shop
3828 W 3rd St, BloomingtonMiss Myla (Husky) has been going to The Bone Yard since it opened. I rescued her from the animal shelter. She absolutely loves the staff in the groom shop and daycare. She can be a difficult groom at times (typical husky) but the staff always does
a great job. Myla loves seeing all her doggy friends in daycare and especially loves the birthday parties!! Both the groom shop and daycare are always clean - daily cleaning at the end of the day to keep all the doggies healthy. Watching the staff interact with the dogs and their owners- you can tell they truly care about their wellbeing. I wouldn’t think of taking Myla anywhere else. She loves the staff.

Furry Friends Veterinary Hospital
857 S Auto Mall Rd, BloomingtonI cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Rachel James at Furry Friends Vet in Bloomington. She is, without a doubt, the best veterinarian my cat Benjamin (Benji) and I have ever met. When Benjamin was struggling with a severe illness, persistent skin lesions, and ongoing allergies, we were terrified and desperate for answers. Then I met Dr. James, truly a magician in the world of veterinary care.
From the very first visit, Dr. James showed a level of patience, kindness, and compassion that is rare to find. She took the time to understand Benjamin’s symptoms, listen to all of my concerns, and explain a thoughtful treatment plan in a way that made me feel informed and reassured. It wasn’t just medical care; it was genuine empathy.
Benjamin’s skin infection lasted for over two months, which was incredibly stressful, but Dr. James supported me and Benji through every step of this long healing journey. Not once did she rush us, dismiss concerns, or make me feel like just another appointment on her schedule. She treated Benjamin as if he were her own cat, with so much love and gentleness that I was often genuinely moved.
What truly amazed me was how Benjamin responded to her. My cat is usually cautious around strangers, but he became so attached to Dr. James that he actually recognized her during visits and would immediately perk up and show happiness the moment she walked into the room. Seeing your pet trust someone that deeply is the greatest reassurance any pet parent can receive.
Thanks to Dr. James’s expertise, dedication, and warm-hearted nature, Benjamin finally recovered, and our visits turned from stressful necessities into comforting check-ins with someone we genuinely trust.
Dr. Rachel James is the sweetest, kindest, and most understanding vet I have ever interacted with. She listens, she cares, and she truly goes above and beyond for both pets and their people.
If you are looking for a veterinarian who treats your pet like family, who brings both skill and heart to her work, and who makes even the toughest moments easier, you will not find anyone better than Dr. Rachel James.
Thank you, Dr. James, for everything. We are forever grateful. ❤️?

Two Sticks Bakery
415 S Washington St, BloomingtonTwo Stick's is an absolute treat. I was introduced to it by a colleague, and dropped in once to try it- and let me tell you, it was totally worth it! I am not a morning person, but I find myself planning early morning visits just to see what new menu item I can try. I don't prefer sweet menu items (and my colleague who got some sweet orders wasn't a fan), but the savoury items absolutely kick ass. Their Zucchini Pumpkin Goat Cheese Hand Pies are an delicious experience with every bite, and the fun part is you get to see them making more in the back. While I did mention the smaller sweet items (either too sweet or bready for my personal taste but still get over by 9am on working days) were not that good, their whole cakes (non slice versions) are really worth trying. I do not have photos to add to my review right now (because everything gets over too soon) but I'm planning to visit again soon (for those amazing hand pies) and will try to get some shots on here.
Service is friendly and as fast as 2 counters can accommodate, so you won't find yourself in a line for longer than 10 minutes if you're lucky.

Butler Winery and Vineyards
6200 E Robinson Rd, BloomingtonI absolutely love this winery! The wine is outstanding and the atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for both casual visits and special occasions. Ive been coming here since early 2000’s as a kid, back in the days of eating pizza by the pond! Once I turned 21, it became my go-to winery — They even hosted my engagement party, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The staff was welcoming and attentive, and all of my friends and family had an amazing time.
They also host a multitude of events, such as the eclipse in 2024, where my family gathered to witness an amazing event. I’m so grateful for the memories we made here and will definitely keep coming back!

Hopscotch Coffee & Kitchen
235 W Dodds St #102, BloomingtonThey have a number of delicious vegan and vegan-capable brunches. I had the Hop Scramble (tofu and seitan sausage) with avocado and toast. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the staff are wonderful! It would be a five star but, I think with HappyCow rules, non-vegan restaurants are limited to four—even though five is an option here. I tied to follow the rules ? Korea Restaurant
409 E 4th St, BloomingtonKorea Restaurant has a pretty predictable but large menu of gimbap, various soups, bulgogi, bibimbap, hotpot, KFC, teriyaki, and more, with some Japanese-style dishes in addition to the Korean. This restaurant, like the others on this street, is in a converted house, and the environment is comfortable and unpretentious. They had K-pop music videos playing on a TV in the dining room. There was an older man and a woman serving together; the woman was very sweet, the man came off as quite serious.
I ordered the tofu hot stone bibimbap which also came with an assortment of banchan. None of the food really stood out to me but it was all pretty good. I definitely would've liked more tofu in the bibimbap, but I did appreciate that it seemed to be lightly pan-fried rather than deep-fried. With hot sauce added, the bowl was very flavourful but not too salty. The vegetables were all cooked well and the fried egg also had nice crispy edges. The portion was filling, especially with the banchan. The bibimbap came out literally seconds after the banchan, so I was a little worried it would get cold before I had the chance to eat the banchan, but the stone bowl kept it nice and hot until the last bite.
I would say this is an okay place for vegetarians/vegans since they do have a number of entrees that I believe should be vegetarian or vegan (more if you remove the egg), but they don't label which dishes are vegetarian, so you might have to ask questions about hidden meat/seafood ingredients if you're not familiar with Korean food. If you are vegetarian, let them know when you order, because even though the bibimbap I ordered was vegetarian, some of the banchan (fishcakes and likely the kimchi) contained seafood.
The overall experience was positive but not outstanding in terms of the food or atmosphere, so while I might return if I'm craving Korean, I want to try other Korean places in the neighbourhood first to see what else is out there.
