Bonneyville Mill County Park is a beautiful and historic park located in Elkhart County. It features an active working grist mill that operates during the summer months, usually until October. Visitors can tour the mill for free, and if the millers are present, they may start it up to demonstrate the milling process. The park offers a variety of fresh, on-site milled flour and corn products for sale, with friendly and knowledgeable staff available to explain the milling process.
The park is well-maintained and offers many outdoor activities, including walking trails that wind around water and through scenic areas. Some trails are long, while others are short, and a large trail map is available at the mill pavilion. The pavilion itself has indoor bathrooms, and there is a pop machine nearby. A large picnic area with tables and small grills overlooks a pond, making it a nice spot for family outings. Across the road, visitors can explore an old restored schoolhouse and additional hiking trails.
Throughout the warm weather season, the park hosts various events, making it a popular destination for hikers, walkers, birders, and nature lovers. Visitors are advised to wear sturdy shoes, bring bug spray, and enjoy the peaceful scenery, which includes the water views and lush gardens. Overall, Bonneyville Mill County Park is a well-loved place that offers a mix of nature, history, and outdoor fun for families and individuals alike.
We went to see the beautiful display of dahlias they have and it didn't disappoint. It's an every year trip for us to go see, also we bought some flour that was ground right there. Great place to visit.
