“Lately, I have been really frustrated every time I go into Michael's, because it's become so impersonal. There is never anyone at the cash register, so I have to use the self-check, which always makes me think that I should have just ordered what I needed online. It's also often difficult to find someone to help me if I can't find an item. It's like shopping in an empty warehouse--again, like shopping online, but with the added gas expense. I work from home, so I really *like* having an experience with live humans when I am craft shopping, but this is getting rarer and rarer. Yesterday, I walked up and down the aisles for ten minutes looking for a specific yarn, and unable to find it, I was about to give up, go home, and just buy from Amazon. I was leaving when I spotted an employee, Kathryn, and was able to ask her for help. She was WONDERFUL. She walked up and down the aisles with me and finally found the yarn I was looking for (Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton. Michael's, please re-think your yarn organization. I would never have found it there!), and took the time to acknowledge and validate my frustration. I really had my heart set on beginning a new knitting project yesterday--for which I needed that yarn--so this really made my day! When I went to check out, there was actually a cashier at the register (I believe her name was Lindsey), and she, too, was lovely--funny and cheerful. I had just about decided that I was never going to buy craft supplies from Michael's again, but thanks to Kathryn and Lindsey, I will try this Michael's again first in the future.”

“I had never been to this shop before several weeks ago but honestly I was just there to check it out to get some ideas of what I'd want to purchase after I got back from working out of town! There was a lady with glasses working who seemed nice to me anyhow but even though I wasn't there to spend money that day she still helped me with any questions I had! Since she was so nice to answer my questions I ended up spending roughly $100 buying some Hobby basketball cello packs and the last pack of Hobby donruss they had. I didn't pull nothing insane or anything but ended up pulling my money's worth! As for the prices on some of their Hobby boxes while the price might be a little more than what you can find online you still have to remember they are trying to make money to cover their bills for the shop as well! They don't have to offer Hobby boxes for anyone to be able to purchase at all cause honestly they could more than make 2x the money if not 3x on apps like whatnot or fanatics however they simply add a little to the price to cover their expense of purchasing the Hobby box and a little extra to help with covering the expenses of the shop! I mean they are the only 1's I personally know of in the southern Indiana area that offers Hobby boxes! If not I apologize but again they're the only 1's that I personally know of! Haters need to quit hating on people cause I mean you walk in an unarmed candy store, toy store, or any other kind of self owned local shop and I promise you the price of anything you purchase will be a little higher than that of say a bigger franchise store! However we should be supporting or local shops while we can cause odfs are we'll be lucky if there's any left in 20-30 years!”
