I really enjoyed my stay today at Gates waiting on my truck to get a oil changed it was very comfortable in there and the the peoples that work there is very friendly and nice specially Abijah he was very nice and friendly and made it very comfortable to be there

Sadly we will never be returning. My husband went in to this lot after seeing a car hes been looking for. He knew a salesman there as well. He goes to look at it and does the test drive and was excited about it. That night they are calling me about finanical info and I ask about pricing and stuff. He tells me that the salesman pulled up what our trade In (jeep wrangler) on the computer value is worth and says that's what he can sell it for so he can't give anymore than that for the trade. My jaw was on floor and immediately I started thinking there's no way they aren't going to put it for sale for more than that. Our payment also ended up more than the requested monthly budget.
We have kids and the salesman said he would just bring the paperwork to our house for me to sign so I didn't have to bring kids in. I have never been somewhere where that's a thing but I thought ok cool. Days go by and every time he said he would come he doesn't. He finally comes.
My husband took out the tech things he wanted and he was told to leave it and the company would fix it all up. Then we get a call day or so later and they ask why an area wasn't put back together and my husband told because I was told not to. So they bring it back to our house and my husband fixes it all and we saw that it was sold. We've been looking at the website to see what they listed it for. Never saw it. So when we saw sold we were a little skeptical.
Things go quiet and we call the sb gates and ask about the jeep in Elkhart and the lady let's us know that the jeep sold for 24k. A good thousand handfuls more than what they said they could sell it for. Now we know why they didn't list it online.
The car we bought from the dealership is a used police car so we know it isnt going to be perfect but we were not delighted to find two holes in The roof from a removed light bar when we went through car wash. So we got scammed into trading our jeep In for low and them making a ton of money off it to having to fix the new car we just bought. The amount of unprofessionalism from this business is insane. We are understanding that car salesman have to sell cars to make a living. But scamming and lying and not keeping your word is ridiculous.

To Thomas, Joe, and JJ – I want to thank you all so very much for going above and beyond for my family and me. The 3 of you are amazing at what you do, and the amount of empathy and compassion that you have for your customers, radiates from within! I will forever be a Gates costumer, and for anyone looking to begin the journey of purchasing a vehicle, start with Gates of Elkhart – you will not be disappointed!
I’m certain that most people can agree with the fact that purchasing a new vehicle is kind of a BIG DEAL! As with most individuals, I did my research on local dealerships in the area, as I wanted to work with a dealership who others perceived as honest, professional, and trustworthy. Throughout my search, I came across Gates of Elkhart.
Pulling into the dealership, I was warmly welcomed by Thomas. We began conversing about the type of vehicle I was searching for, and lucky for me – It was in stock! The anticipation of having the much-dreaded discussion of financing and budget was next, however, Thomas’s gentle, and understanding approach, quickly minimized all my anxieties! We test drove the car, took it over to my mechanic, and despite having gone on the test drive with Thomas for nearly an hour, there was never a moment when I felt pressured or rushed to make it back to the Gates dealership.
To say that it was “love at first sight” with the car, would be an understatement! However, given that this car was considered a “trade in” vehicle, as you can expect, it was not in pristine condition. Without going too much in depth, there was a significant flaw on this vehicle, that was an absolute deal breaker. I expressed my concerns to Thomas, and after some negotiation, Gates agreed to have the damage repaired!
We returned to the dealership, and I was transferred over to JJ, to discuss the financing and warranty aspect of things – which again, as most would agree, is the absolute WORST part of a car buying journey! JJ was very patient and understanding. He took his time to answer all my questions and thoroughly explained all options available to me. I wasn’t fond of the numbers originally presented to me, so I asked that we call it a night so that I had time to “sleep on” the information. Without hesitation, JJ said yes, and he agreed to be in touch the following day.
That next morning, I received a message from JJ stating that he took the time to personally contact some of the lenders himself, and to my surprise, he was able to find a budget that worked PERFECTLY for my family! I went back to the dealership to sign the final paperwork, however, I was still reluctant and hesitant, as I was signing for a vehicle that still needed some body work.
To ease my concerns, I was introduced to Joe, the sales manager of Gates. He promised and guaranteed that the final work would be in tip-top shape, and gave his word that I would receive regular updates along the way.
Not a day went by without communication from either Tom, Joe, or JJ, in the 6 days that I waited for the vehicle to be repaired. I received photos & updates along the way, and right before the car was transported to the body shop, Joe checked in to make sure that the final work of the vehicle’s details was up to my standard.
I picked up my car yesterday evening, and was greeted with smiles, laughter and cheer! I am so thankful to have chosen Gates of Elkhart to work with me throughout my car buying experience and promise to return for the next vehicle I purchase!

The other day I went to go look at cars and Bryan had helped me as soon as I pulled in. He was very helpful helping me find the perfect car!
When purchasing my 2023 rav4 Andy with finance was very helpful explaining all costs and coverages!
10/10 recommend
Update: my rav was totaled by a tree. Gates was very willing to help throughout the process and get me back into a car so fast!
SILVER WAS AMAZING! Talk about a great salesman. He got me into a red Chevy blazer and I love it!!

The perfect place where you can buy a vehicle and where your guaranteed the vehicle will be in a great shape, don’t think twice great prices, great people, best of all best warranty. Went around comparing prices and the same day I drove my new vehicle. They’ll find you the right loaner at the right price costumer always first, I’m very thankful especially to Bryan Mendez for his attention to costumer.
