I had a very good experience with renting from Avis. It was convenient, easy, and the vehicle felt clean, comfortable, and safe. I particularly appreciate Avis's policy of no smoking or vaping in vehicles and the fact that there was a sticker on the driver's window reminding that there would be a $450 fine if smoking or vaping took place in the car--yay. I did not want my passengers or I to be exposed to any chemical residues from cigarettes or vapes being circulated by the ventilation system or on surfaces we touched, so it was reassuring that Avis made it clear they were serious about enforcing this policy.

I’m not usually one to leave a Google review for a car rental desk at the airport but this experience was so touching I have to.I had an awful travel day on my way into FWA and called the desk agent onsite to ask if she would be willing to stay an extra 15 minutes since my flight landed as she was supposed to close. She said yes and was so kind. Flash forward my flight didn’t take off until an hour later and I assumed there was no chance she was able to stay, but this angel woman stayed open until 1 AM so that everyone on our flight could get their car and get where they were going. If not for her, I wouldn’t have had anywhere to sleep that night nor a way to get to a hotel. She even was thoughtful enough to intentionally give me an SUV with 4WD since the weather was so bad. I am so so grateful for her kindness and will be switching my primary rental car company over to Avis. I travel a lot and this experience really touched me. The entire process was as easy as it could possibly be for both pickup and dropoff.

We arrived at the desk at 9:58. When the amount due came up, it was approximately $90 more than what we had booked. The lady at the desk (I believe her name is Rachel?) appeared annoyed that I was questioning the amount. She also scoffed when I declined additional upcharges such as insurance and for them to pay for the gas which she (highly recommends). She then proceeded to rudely say that our booking was for 10:30 and that if I wanted the rate that I booked, I would need to come back in 30 minutes at which point she walked away from the kiosk. At 10:25 I asked if we could proceed with the booking since it would be past 10:30 by the time we would receive the car. She ignored me and took the next person in line. 10:30 came and I was stuck in line behind 3 others delaying the process even further. I asked if there was a manager and she said no to call the 800 number. It wasn’t until I was on the phone calling the 800 number that she processed our reservation. This was a horrible experience which added insult to injury since we were in town for a funeral. Her attitude and demeanor was so rude and condescending that I will go out of my way to avoid renting from Avis at Fort Wayne Airport. I had rented from the same location back in June and had a negative experience with a young lady (not sure if it was the same person) as we were given the wrong type of vehicle. The lady at the desk said that since we booked with Priceline, there was nothing she could do. My sister was able to reach someone at Avis and the matter was resolved but we still endured wasted time and frustration. You would have thought that we learned our lesson from that experience. I rarely write reviews, but this was such a bad experience that I couldn’t let this go.

From reservation to drop off everything was very easy. Car was ready when we landed. Cars are on site so easy pick up and drop off. FRIENDLY staff and very helpful.

Great service. I was in my car in 5 minutes. The unit I got was nice and clean and everything worked perfectly. Return was merely handing the key back at the desk.

Don’t book Avis. If you have to call customer service expect to be treated horrible. They have no customer service skills. Avoid a headache if possible. Book with HERTZ or someone else. Reason I booked avis was because it was Thanksgiving and no cars were available. Next time I’ll rather Uber than booking with Avis and getting a broken car.

I rented a small car for my wife but when I got there all they had were huge vehicles.I brought the vehicle home and she rejected it. It was huge. She wants small. I reserved small. I didn't get small.I returned the vehicle. I had to pay for the full price because I prepaid.The great thing is I got a great deal. The bad thing is the cancelation fee was more than the rental cost.I will say the employees were very nice. Although they wanted to give me a refund, they could not. It's all computerized and they cannot give you any money back.So if you return early because you can't use the vehicle be prepared to forfeit any unused rental days.It is a great business if you do not mind *not* getting what you paid for. So if you're flexible go for it. But if you want what you reserved be prepared to drive something other than what you ordered.As a point of reference every review I have made prior to this has been 4 or 5 star.

I am baffled at the service and vehicle we received. I showed up and they said no van was available even though I requested one well in advance. Tried to downsize me to another vehicle. All of a sudden found a van. I get the van and it was nasty! I had them clean it before I took it. This took an extra 30 minutes after the 15 minutes you didn’t have a van.Once I looked at the van, it had two cracks in the windshield, was still dirty in some spots, was missing a vent cover, had a bent and expired license plate, a cracked passenger mirror, and dents all over it. I am fully convinced you guys take no time in cleaning or maintaining your vehicles.After on the road, it started raining and the windshield wipers just smeared the rain. Thankfully it only rained a few minutes for the week I had the van or I would have replaced those myself.When trying to get the van initially, the staff argued back and forth for 5 minutes right in front of me on who closed and opened the previous week. Very unprofessional!

Avis has lost it!!! In every city I've rented from Avis the vehicle was unsanitarily dirty in and out. One would think that COVID would've started a routine of cleanliness. The Preferred privilege is a joke in LAX. Long story short, they have so many people coming in, they can't keep up with the demand. Unfortunately, the result of this behavior, Avis doesn't allocate time between rentals to properly cleaning and sanatize the vehicles. Instead they just put the vehicles back on the lots for a quick turn rental. It's apparent that Avis is about the money and the values are out the window. If my company didn't have a contract with Avis, I wouldn't rent from them at all.

Terrible, they gave me a 4-wheel drive with large Knoby Tires , when I ask for a midsized Car, then told me that's all they Had & it Ruined Our Vacation, to High to step into & rouff Riding, will Never Rent From Avis Again!!!!! Total Disaster!!!!

I have reserved multiple compact cars in the last few months. Every time I get a “free upgrade” to a gas guzzling SUV. I have requested something more gas efficient, but have been told there’s nothing else available.When I returned this last SUV, I had just filled the tank. However, I was charged $20 for 1/10 of a gallon of gas (a $17 service charge, tax, and the cost of the fraction of a gallon of gas). I couldn’t believe how nit picky they were, especially when THEY gave me a gas guzzling vehicle (if I can’t even make it from a nearby gas station without getting charged, that isn’t reasonable).Thankfully, corporate has refunded the extra charges, but it would have been better to not have to make a phone call in the first place.I hope this is a fluke and no one else has a similar experience in the future, but I’d recommend checking your final receipt just in case.Aside from this, I’ve appreciated how pleasant and helpful the clerks have been. If that continues to be the case, and if I could actually get the compact car I keep requesting, my next review would have 5 stars. Hopefully we’ll get there!
