“I found myself stranded at Granger on a Sunday due to car troubles. Another shop had given me a hefty $3000 estimate and an additional day’s wait for a fuel pump replacement. In my desperation, I called this particular shop. Steven, the mechanic, asked me about the issue over the phone. Surprisingly, he informed me that fuel pump replacements for VW and Audi cars like mine were rare, and there might be less expensive causes. I brought my car to the shop, where both Steven and the owner test-drove it. Although they needed more detailed diagnostics, the shop was busy with scheduled work. Thankfully, the owner rescheduled other jobs to assist me. In the end, it turned out that I didn’t need a fuel pump replacement at all—just a turbo bypass valve. The new valve would have cost $250 and required another day’s wait, but they managed to find a used valve and charged me only $50 for the parts. Within two hours, I drove away feeling happy and relieved! It’s amazing how an experienced owner can make a difference, not only in knowledge but also in empathy.”
