I worked there some years ago. Best company I've ever worked for. I'm in awe of the negative reviews because I can tell u as I was a benefit consultant there; they are awesome. The do have to adhere to laws however....perhaps that's why folks are unhappy. One america is a stand up co. Give them a chance.

I was informed in writing my disbursement was approved and a payment requested so please allow 3-5 business days for the ACH to be issue and 2 days for it to be received. This was on August 2nd, today is August 17th. They have the very worst customer service. Stall stall and more stalls. My money not theirs!

Update on my previous poor review on this company. Within minutes of me writing a poor review, I received a public and private message from someone at the company saying they were sorry and to give them additional information so they could help. I responded within the hour and still have not heard anything back from this individual. It's been a week since this interaction. They must automatically respond so people reading these reviews think they are a responsive company. I'm here to tell you they are not. They only pretend to be helpful and responsive. Their actions don't match their words. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY.

There are alot of good financial companies out there, this is NOT one of them. Officially at 30 days since requesting a distribution from them. If you want a poor performing retirement acct that takes an act of congress to get your money back out of, this is your huckleberry.

Worst of the worst! They diverted 20k BACK to my employer, which my employer agreed was a MISTAKE! Now taking WEEKS to get me a check from funds THEY diverted!!Criminal, no ownership and misappropriation of finds, IMHO.

I wish zero stars was an option. Because of the stone-age practices of this "business", I may not be able to fulfill my legal obligation to purchase a home. I requested a 401k residential loan from these people over a month ago. Mind you, everything they do is by snail mail. I call today to check status, and nobody knows anything about it. I close in a week. I have no idea how I'm going to fund escrow. I'm going to document everything and hand it over to my company's HR department. I want to cease doing all business with this "company" but unfortunately, I would have to forgo my company's matching contributions to my retirement!

My husband worked part-time at Fleet Farm, and his employer set up a 401k account with OneAmerica without him asking for it. He stopped it immediately, but not before a balance of $59 accrued. He's old enough to withdraw now, but OneAmerica insists on charging a $60 fee, despite 2 days of arguing with them. They blame it on the employer. They stink too. Paid him less than high school wages.

Throughout the past month I have been sending emails to my sales person, the call center, and help service to close my life insurance policy through a Full Cash Surrender. I've been told multiple times that this process takes 10 business days before a check will be in the mail. It has been well over 10 business days. I have not received a single call or email confirming that this is being processed. Think more long term than I did before working with One America. If you ever need to close an account, I hope you have a better customer experience than me. I will not recommend One America to anyone I know due to the horrible service I've received.

The only reason I've given this company 1 star is b/c Yelp requires giving them something...this is a horrible company for your 401K and totally incompetent IMHO ... and they don't allow Google reviews (one can only surmise that it is b/c they know they'd all be negative)...this is the worst experience I've had with any 401K provider...I hope you all learn from the multiple 1 star reviews and the horrible experience people describe in these reviews...

Have been locked out of my account and it looks like I'm not the only one. It lets you reset your password but then doesn't accept the new password. Not an easy company to get help from.

Either they are in the Stone Age or their business plan is to profit by inconveniencing their customers. They only provide distributions by hard copy checks sent by snail mail. Who does that? That went out with the 20th Century. They can't be that technologically inept. So why do it? Because they profit by obtaining days or weeks of a free loan to themselves of their customers' money from the time that they write and mail a check until the check is received and cashed. It inconveniences customers for OneAmerica''s profit. That is not someone you want to do business with.

Do not trust your money with this financial institution! I got locked out of my account a month ago and have had no access to my money since. I have contacted them multiple times and been given plenty of "temporary passwords" to log in which do not work. I've been told 3 times that an IT ticket would be submitted on my behalf, when I've received reply emails from the IT department I am told to call back and the representatives I give my case number to have no information for me. I've been hung up on several times during this process. Most recently I've been told "due to the security of my account" they can no longer discuss my account with me.You are better off investing with fidelity.Or burry your money in the ground at least you can access it then!

Absolutely horrible experience. I will avoid jobs from now on if they partner with OneAmerica. My previous employer changed retirement services to OneAmerica. I had contacted OneAmerica because I left that previous employer and needed to get my retirement rolled over into my new retirement plan. Besides the 1 hour wait times on the phone, it went fairly smoothly. Then after almost a year of this happening, I received a letter from OneAmerica stating they made a mistake and I owed them back money, and it was MY job to contact my new retirement fund to get this money back to avoid penalty by law. I honestly thought I was being scammed. I proceeded to call for months to get more information and verify I owed this, each person I spoke with had no idea about the letter, that I left that employer, or anything about the case despite giving them case numbers. I thought about getting a lawyer because this was just ridiculous. They had a manager speak with me because they finally realized how horrible they messed up, and he said I indeed owed them money from my current retirement fund. I got an apology and I requested documentation of proof of how they were able to tell I owed them. They at first acted like they couldn't give me anything to prove this, but I settled with the manager typing out a document. He said I would get this within 1 week, I had to contact them back after a month because I never received this document I was promised. Again, I had to call and go through the prompts of explaining myself to a new person who again had no idea what I was talking about despite a case number. All in all, I feel scammed by this unprofessional company. I would never recommend.

Still trying to get my money from the company's. The only thing they can say is sorry but our company policy does not allow us to protect you or your money. It does not allow us to fix our mistakes. Worst company ever.
