This Avis location in Merrillville, IN is by far the best location! They are very fast with their service. The overall staff is very kind. The cars are extremely well kept. I will always rent my cars from this location.

The Customer Service experience at this location was horrible. The office Manager, Ms. Frasier was rude and unprofessional. The staff was not helpful, unavailable and they did not wish to honor what they agreed to do. In addition, I had to go through a 1-800 Customer Service line, make a formal complaint and dispute the charged amount in order to get the adjustment I was promised. Not a company of integrity. Though there were others who did come to work to serve, others on the Team made this very difficult. If I had other choices and locations, I certainly would not come back to this one!

The window washer did not work. I'm not sure if it didn't have washer fluid or a mechanical issue. It wasn't noticed until I was a couple hours into my travels. Made driving hazardous.

I have depended on Avis/Budget in Merrillville, IN for a number of rentals and I can honestly say that the staff is wonderful, very knowledgeable and respectful, always making me satisfied with my rental. Greg is outstanding and is a perfect example of how management provides excellent customer service. His service is the only reason why I have continued to use this location for years. ? ? ? ? ?

Hi There,I had rented a car in this location on very short notice and I was new to Merrillville. Mr Eric Malone helped me to great extent and he has excellent patience. It was over crowded and he was alone, he ensured he was giving best experience to all of his customers. He is a very hard worker and doesn't take coffee break or lunch break. He ensures he is always back at desk soon once a customer has selected a car so that he can assist next customer. Starting from Driver license verification to car selection and billing he does it very fast. I was amazed to see his energy level, he is very friendly to all of his customers and he welcomes them with a wide smile. I will recommend this place to everyone if you want a memorable experience.He doesnt disappoint any of his customers and he gives them quality time in answering all their queries. You cannot find a person like Eric Malone anywhere. He is surely an asset to his owner and his owner should be lucky to have him. May God bless Eric Malone and his family always for the kind and helpful nature he has !!

The staff at the Avis location in Merrillville was extremely efficient during my early Sunday morning pick-up. Then they were careful to protect some valuable items i left behind. When i returned the next morning before their regular business hours, the Manager welcomed me and i retrieved my lost items.These important customer service touches have convinced me to seek out Avis on all my future vacations!

I unfortunately rented the car off Avis website. The first thing they did was promise me as a 1st time user a special deal. When they came back with my rental it was $100 for a 2 day rental. I could not believe it, so I thought something is wrong here. So I had my daughter check and she said it should be around $200. So I thought I must have made a mistake. When I went back to the check-out it had cleared for "security" reasons. So I had to once again put in all the information, this time it told me $200 so it looked ok. I made the reservation. When I went to my e-mail account to confirm the reservation there was an e-mail telling me that for first time user I would get 1-day of the rental free, telling me to complete the reservation. That explained the discrepancy! So I click the link and made the new reservation for the $100. Then I canceled the other reservation. This was within minutes of making it. Avis charged me $50 for this cancelation! Not right, but it was still cheaper since I would get the free day. (I hoped I could argue this, but still was cheaper even if I had to pay the $50.) Unfortunately on the new reservation they changed the drop-off time making it a one day reservation. I did not see this on my phone since the font is very small. So they gave me no special discount as promised. Just scammed by them claiming discounts that you cannot get, then changing return times so that they can hide what you are getting. I should have used an booking site like Costco that is not playing games with you. It cost me an extra $50.(This seems to be the new scam. When we booked southwest we were promised $200 if we applied for a SW credit card. So I did, but could not find out how to get the $200. So I just used my credit card to secure the reservation. All it ended up was a week later I was getting nagged about the credit card. I could not get the $200 off unless I booked another reservation. So why give me one price, but charge me $200 more? I guess I could have cancelled my reservation and paid the cancellation fee, then make a new reservation and get the promised $200 off. Good thing I said it was not worth it. I really did not want another CC and this is the first trip we took in a few years. Seems there is always a new scam going on.)
