Slow service for the morning on a Saturday. That is due to one customer trying to get as much money as possible because of what time slot they used. That’s on you bro if you chose a time when they are not open. Even with the online process it still took another 45 minutes from when I was supposed to get the truck. I think the online process should stream line but it doesn’t do anything more because they are just asking the same questions at the store.

Never get any service…. Door is always locked. I only came to get boxes. My grandma recommended even tho I told her I had this same experience before renting equipment. I was there over an hr.

I dropped off the truck and neglected to put the furniture pads back in the truck. I received a call from the young lady in the office (i think her name is Brittany). She informed me I needed to return them, or they would charge me $8 per pad (I rented 6 for $5). I was at work and let her know I would bring them when I got off. (I rented the truck for 8 hours but used it and returned it within 1.5hrs) I stopped by my mom's house after work. The young lady from the office called me again to see when I would bring the pads back and told me that her manager told her to go ahead and charge me for 12 pads. I told her I only had 6 pads and let her know that she couldn't charge my card because I only had 6 pads and I had until the office closes at 7pm to bring them back. She then told me.... Her exact words.... " what you got a attitude for, I'm trying to help You out." I did not see where she was trying to help me out for anything, I got upset because I was being harassed and threatened (to charge my card for something I didn't have). Her tone and dialogue was very offensive. When I got there, I let her know her customer service skills need work. And she went off, she told me she had confirmation I was given 2 bags of 6 pads. I received 1 bag of 6 which I didn't even need to use. She told me to get out of her store, I didn't leave because I needed my receipt before I left to ensure, she wouldn't charge my card for anything extra. She was totally unprofessional and threatening. I will never recommend this store to anyone I know and will make sure I share my experience with anyone that will listen.

Friendly employees,efficient service,truck was clean and ready to go and got checked back in quickly.Would definitely ecommend to friends and family!!

The truck smelt like someone was moving farm animals. The box truck leaked when rained. Employee stated they knew one of them leaks but wasn't sure which one. Tried to get me to pay cash so they could "avoid a claim with uhaul"

I would rather drive out of my way than deal with the horrible customer service this location has. Both employees there took the two parking spots nearest the front door so I had to carry all the boxes I purchased to the last available spot. Neither employee offered to help. Hire better people..

Manager called me from a private number on the day my payment was due to say that the payment was past due. Very unprofessional. Glad I will be moving out the storage unit at this location.

This was absolutely the worst rental I have ever gotten thru U-Haul and I have rented a lot of their equipment over the last 5+ yearsI rented a 26’ moving van. This was not the first time I rented a moving van this size. This piece of equipment was junk and an accident waiting to happen. The brakes squeaked & when pressing the pedal to stop, the pedal went almost to the floor. The transmission is shot and makes the vehicle even worse on gas consumption than normal. The steering wheel is turned to the left which means the front end is out of alignment. The windshield was never cleaned from the previous rental. It had dead bug smears all over, on both sides. And the absolute best part was that when you got to 55-60 miles an hour the van shook so bad I thought I was going to lose control and that the back of the vehicle was going to shake loose from the cabWhen I returned the vehicle I got the pleasure of telling all of this to a gentleman, whom I didn’t get his name but I sure wish I would have, that is supposed to be in charge of the maintenance of the U-Haul vehicles. He was totally checked out from what I was telling him. He could have cared less about the condition of that moving van. In fact, he told me that the 26’ moving vans have a governor on them and they shouldn’t go over 55 miles an hour. Guess the governor was broke too. I could get it to 60 miles an hour but no more than that. I wasn’t or never have been told that the 26’ vans can’t go over 55 miles an hour. I rented one from Dover, TN and drove it to Indiana, fully loaded, and drove it at 70 miles an hour and you couldn’t even tell you were driving such a large vehicle. Maybe his attitude was due to me being female and knowing a good bit about vehicles. Or maybe he just doesn’t care. Whatever the reason, if you are renting a 26’ moving van from the U-Haul on 81st Street in Merrillville and it is vehicle #JH-2824B, be warned if this vehicle has not been serviced, you are in for a ride of your life and not in a good way

I called the number to reserve over the phone and the lady I spoke to was truly kind and helpful made me feel happy that I called. When I got to the location Tyler was polite, knowledgeable, reassuring and made me feel comfortable with the entire process. Thank you U-Haul for providing exceptional services. Cheers
