“Sunday, July 21, 2024. We stopped in Michigan City for a night en route to O’Hare to take a flight for our honeymoon. On the hour drive over from the reception, we noticed that our truck was making rattling noises and not handling well.
As soon as we could on Monday afternoon, we sorted through mechanic options and chose to try Dave’s.
The service person we dealt with was friendly, quick, and practical. Took us right away for a test drive. “Bad ball bearings, not safe to drive!” Talked us through our options and answered our questions. So we rebooked our flight, booked another night in Michigan City, and got the truck taken in overnight.
Even thought Dave’s already had a full schedule, they squeezed us in and we had the truck back by 9am the next morning. We made it to O’Hare just fine on Wednesday and the truck sounded and handled much better for a reasonable price.
I’m grateful Dave’s was willing to take on a pair of out-of-town honeymooners and make sure we arrived safely at our destination!”

They just need to invest in more machinery to turn / bore cranks, so they can do it all. I even pass a local shop up (that is just to busy to talk with you) and do the drive drive to Owens. They helped me with a difficult situation…
The battery I bought from another store died. It was still under warranty, but the store I bought it from went out of business.
They replaced it and gave me an extended warranty for a very small charge. I needed new wiper blades…they sold me excellent ones which also came with a warranty.
I would highly recommend them for anything automotive! ?”
“I normally don't leave a review unless it's 5 stars. I have never been dissatisfied with a product from LKQ. But I have to do everything in person. Getting through on the phone is often unsuccessful with hold times often exceeding 20 minutes.G says they're open till 5 but they're only open till 4:30. Like I said I have never been dissatisfied with them. They are just hard to do business with because the phone system creates a bottleneck. Also, if you call at 4:40pm and are on hold the whole time, the recording will come on at 5 p.m. and tell you they're closed and hang up on you. Definitely could use some improvement there.”
